$11 million is a very large amount of money. Do you think that god may help them raise it? They were acting in his name after all.

I'm torn on this. On one hand, I have the WBC with the passion of a thousand burning suns. They are evil horrible people. On the other hand, I strongly believe in the right of free speech and protest.

I just don't know how to reconcile the two views. What happens when it is someone protesting for a cause I support? It is very easy to curtail the speech of people you don't like. The problem comes later, when that law you just passed is used against you.

Again, I just don't know whether to support this or not.

They are scumbags. Not only are they raging lunatics but they don't even respect the mother of a dead man enough to let her experience her sons funeral without their insane rantings.

Since they probably will never pay the fine, I think they could have used a real punishment. Some community service, some prison time, and their cult being shut down would be a nice start.

It's about time someone took a stand against that group. And even better that someone in authority [in this case, a judge] agreed.

I honestly think that stuff like this is more what constitutes "using God's name in vain". Using the name of God to advance an agenda like theirs is wrong. I think swearing and saying G.D. etc is a very minor example of using God's name in vain. I think Westboro, Phelps, and others like them are a MAJOR example of using God's name in vain.

Yes.

I hope they get treated equally harshly in the future. Some people deserve harsh treatment.

No I don't. I am quite pleased with the verdict. The only ones that will come to their aid are the other nut-jobs that follow their racist, sexist congregation.
I hope it personally bankrupts them and closes the doors to their so call church forever.

Burning in oil might be a little harsh.

Awarding monetary damages in any amount is not too harsh against them.

If you actually think so, you're more than a little deluded. But the "Fairy Sky God" part leads me to believe you probably don't think so...lol.

They are evil and deluded people. Protesting funerals? There is no excuse for that sort of behavior.
