I've been assigned a huge project at work that's going to take a lot of time and effort on my part; and I feel like, if making what I'm making now, I'll be under-compensated. I was just wondering if $1.12 an hour is too big of a raise to ask for. I don't want to look like an idiot when I talk to my boss about it.

The $0.12 is to bring me up to and even dollar amount...

This new project is actually something that is somewhat of a newly created position, as well... I'm doing my current job in addition to this project.

You could always put together a proposal and present it to your boss. If you could show that the work you will be doing will increase the bottom line by more than what it would cost to give you a raise they will have to consider it. If nothing else it could go a long way at your next review to see that you are that well researched and thinking of the company more than just how it affects you.

Why $1.12? Why the 12 cents? Why not just $1?

No matter what type of job he assigns you to do its all still part of your job and you´re getting paid for it, even if its an easy or dificult project you´re still getting paid a salary..I mean if it was extra hours then yes maybe you should get paid more but you´re not working extra hours you´re just doing a project that u think is hard but its still in the same working hours, u know what I mean?...

If I were you I would do the work I was asked to do. If you work on this project and complete the job on time and correctly. You might not have to ask for a raise , your boss will be able to see you are worth more money and offer you more at that time.

Go for it. If you think you deserve a raise, ask for it. Generally, the worst that can happen is that they say no. But they may give it to you or suggest a compromise.
