I was saved by Jesus when I was 18. The experience was genuine and I really believed at the time. And I was assured by the Church that just as there was nothing I could do to save myself, there was nothing I could do to undo my salvation once I accepted it.
Fast forward 18 years. I don't believe in gods anymore. Am I still safe from the hellfire that I also don't believe in?

From the first few answers I've gotten it sounds like Jesus' sacrifice of himself to himself (the Father) isn't that powerful if I can undo it so easily. I should note too that one cannot help one does or does not believe.

I should also note that I am not an immoral person. My highest motivation, above all else is love, the greatest commandment, as it were. Am I not better off because I don't believe in a deity? Is unpoliced morality (which I have) not more genuine than "morality" that is observed because one is afraid of punishment in hell? What then is the true motive? Love or fear? Some would say it doesn't matter as long as one is obedient to God. I say it DOES matter, and your own scriptures say that if you do not have love in your heart, you're as a a noisy gong.

Salvation is a total work of God. You did nothing to gain it. It is permanent, if the Holy Spirit truly did indwell you and you were born anew. But, there are a lot of people who say the words, do the stuff, have an emotional experience, but never were truly born anew. There are three options:
1. You are saved, but running from God. If you are one of His, He will bring you back in His timing, in His way.
2. You may be one of the elect, but were never indwelt with the Spirit and born anew, even though you did the Christian "stuff". In that case, God will invade your life and you will be saved.
3. You were never born anew, and are not of the elect. In that case, even though you did the stuff, you are not one of His, and He will allow you to continue on the path of destruction.
Mat 7:21 Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the kingdom of Heaven, but the ones who do the will of My Father in Heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name do many works of power?
Mat 7:23 And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; "depart from Me, those working lawlessness!" (Psa. 6:8)

Hello,
Not if you continue on in sin. Being baptized or re-born is not a license to sin with immunity and impunity. It is a mockery to God. LOL, it is just like those Mafia movies where a God Child is being baptized and some of the family step out of the church for a smoke, a quicky with a secretary or mistress whilst ordering a drug shipment and contract killing.
Cheers,

if you are in the true church according to the bible HEB 6:4 -6 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, 5. And have tasted the good word of GOD, and the powers of the world to come, 6.If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. 1 juan 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.

First of all the question is were you truly saved? Follow this link, and you can find true salvation.

But you can not lose it, I John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
So eternal life means forever right? so how can you lose it if it is eternal?

Based upon your logic: "Am I still safe from the hellfire that I also don't believe in?" If you do not belive in it than what do you need to be protected from. That is like saying I do not want to be killed by a minotaur but I don't believe in them so I won't be... how does that make any sense?

Now this is an interesting question.
Will your lack of belief mean that the "seal of God" that had been placed on you 'cause you were saved will be revoked?
My first inclination was "no", because it's through Grace, Not works that we're supposed to be saved.
But it's not only that....Jesus saves his people through Grace, but one is also supposed to believe...to have faith that they are saved and so they are.
So...according to Christion theology...if you say you're saved, but don't believe...you're up the creek.

my friend, once saved always saved. true you may have gotten saved at 18 and backslidden but You are still in God's hands. the church was right but the church did not save you. The Bible says in John 10:27-29...My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

The Bible declares that anyone who departs the faith is demonstrating that he/she never truly was a Christian (1 John 2:19).

If you don't believe in God don't question rules that man said or claim they set up they no longer apply.
