I need help with an accent color (or maybe 2) for my living room...I just remodeled a house and moved in about 2 months ago and I'm still in the middle of decorating. The walls in my living room are sage green, the trim is white, I have cherry hardwood floors, my furniture is a real deep chocolate brown, and my end tables and coffee table are deep brown but the corners of them are marble (the marble is different colors of brown)...I need to know a good accent color that will somewhat BRIGHTEN up my living room because the room just looks too boring and dark for me...maybe like a rug and a good piece of artwork will do the job (because I have nothing on the walls yet), and some throw pillows on my couch and loveseat...I just don't know what colors would go good with sage green and brown! Please help!!! Thanks in advance =)

SUGGEST adding brass or copper accents to brighten room, and:
red or rose pink;
peach, orange, terra cotta;
banana, gold;
kelly or huntergreen [ plants? ]
aqua, turquoise;
sky, smoke blue; or
bright purple
IN: solids or print of new color and sage
drapes
throw pillows [ different fabric/texture than upholstery ]
art work
USE the sage, brass/copper, and new color for:
lamps, vases, artwork, ornaments. flowerpots or planters, candles/holders.
MAYBE a brass framed mirror about 2' by 3'; across from windows, over sofa or mantle.
Bright candles in brass holders on mantle, or side tables.
Bright, pretty centerpiece in brass or copper bowl, or ornament[s] for coffee table.
Put up a large pretty art work or group of photos on a 'boring' wall.

If you are thinking of getting a rug, a helpful website would be
http://www.rugzilla.com. You are able to sort all rugs by color and type, making it easy to find what you want.

bright red or purple would be good. or a bright orange! get some pillows and a throw blanket, a nice rug maybe in tan to offset the other colors. maybe some bamboo shades. you can do Asian style with the wall art you choose.

Bright tangerine would look beautiful with sage & brown, and look kind of autumn-y. Take a look at this artwork:

And these rugs:

In general, area rugs are a great place to figure out what colors look great together. Look at this one with various shades of sage, orange and red:

Here are some others with a sage/orange combo:

Yes, and it seems that people feel like they can be more racist on the Internet but they know in RL they would have the crap beat out of them for that. And they would deserve it too. Racism is one of the worst forms of ignorance and bigotry and s are the other forms, hating somebody for religion or sexuality

For art work check these out: http://www.art.com/asp/display-asp/_/ID--12134/Botanical.htm?ui=21962FAF65E44F258104811E92CA2442
Frame it yourself, it'll be much less expensive.
Also a nice throw for the couch, perhaps something like this:

Accents for the tables like: http://www.pier1.com/TopMenu/ExploreMerch/Catalog/CatalogUSMainland/tabid/194/Default.aspx
A large mirror would also brighten up the room.

You'd be surprised what orange or peach can do. Orange if you want a big punch. Peach if you are afraid of orange. ;)
