My dog is about a year and half and we just got a 2 month old puppy....she licks her 'area'.....is it a motherly thing or what?

My puppy lick his own area lol. And yeah i'm pretty sure it's either motherly-ish or something along those lines. Dogs don't have "those" feelings.

yes its a motherly thing and its lovely that your dog wants to mother the puppy,leave them to it,only intervene if its a constant thing and the puppie is getting a sore bum.its also a bonding action so they should live happily together forever.

Your dog is being a mother to the pup. Licking encourages the pup to pee and poop, as well as cleaning the area.
PS. it's okay to use language like vulva/ penis/ anus when referring to body parts. It's the non-medical terms which violate the YA! guidelines.

Its a family kinda grooming thing. Its ok my male licks my females face and head all the time. I think its endearing.

The mother is keeping the pup clean and showing it how to do it himself.
