...over the past few months I've spent many hours with you as I've tried to pass time at work. And in that time I've laughed, have been inspired and/or my mind has been provoked. I've learned quite a bit about you all, but would like to know more. So without further ado, here's my question for you all:
What is something that you've always wanted to learn, but never have?
Myself, I've always wanted to learn how to skateboard. Now, I'm not just talking about being able to skateboard down the street. I'm talking about doing tricks and stuff...better than the guys who compete in the X Games. That'd be sweet!

Edit: Malik, it doesn't have to do with violence. I've always wanted to learn martial arts as well. I love those types of movies. I think it be cool to be able to roundhouse kick someone.

Nea VT, LMBO! lol! I feel your pain. It's amazing getting to listen to someone who has an incredibly beautiful voice, but unfortunately I sound like a dying cat as well.

>What is something that you've always wanted to learn, but never have?
I can't say there's very much I've ALWAYS wanted to learn. However one thing I've wanted to learn for some time- and which is high on my agenda at the present- is how to do programming in some actually useful language. A few years ago I learned Excel 4.0 macros, made a number of games in that language, but quickly ran into its limits and decided I needed to go farther than that. I subsequently learned some TI-Basic (for my graphing calculator) and Javascript, and made a few games and other programs in those languages. However, all three of those were scripting languages, which puts various limitations on them (most primarily in terms of speed) which can only be gotten around by using compiled languages. So a couple weeks ago I (finally!) downloaded Bloodshed Dev-C++ and started teaching myself C++ programming. So far I've barely scratched the surface of what is possible, but I really want to learn more so that I can actually make something worthwhile. Which will probably never happen, but anyway.

No religion/atheist/scientific pantheist/humanist/like some eastern philosophy/rebel who doesn't fit labels well. I live in Austria now, grew up in the states. I'm 5'6'' or about 168 cm I'm still a U.S. citizen and will do my primary voting at the U.S. embassy here next Tuesday. The humor, sharing of different viewpoints, others who share my skepticism Audi A4 No, I'm so busy, I really don't have internet socializing time. Its a guilty thing just popping in here while I'm online for other things to answer a few questions.

I still remember a conversation I had with my high school English teacher. He loved being a teacher because he absolutely loves to teach and to learn new things. If I had the time and the money there are many things I would love to learn or learn to do better:
Brush up on my Spanish, there was a time I was close to being fluent.
Learn Latin, I know this is backwards, I should learn Latin first then Spanish.
Learn to play chess better
Learn to play bridge
Learn to fix old cars
Learn to play a musical instrument, most likely piano
I think it would be absolutely awesome to fly an airplane. "Honey? Wanna go to Vegas for the weekend? Hop in!"

I've always wanted to learn the art of belly dancing! We went to eat at a Moroccan restaurant several years ago, and it was very fascinating! They had not just the authentic food, but the ambiance, as well as a bevy of lovely ladies in exquisite costumes and veils dancing in this most beautiful style. While I admit I got weary just watching, lol, I determined that one day if I can find a place that instructs in such an art, I will most DEFINITELY take some lessons!

How to play a wind instrument... I can learn a new stringed instrument in minutes. But for the life of me, I can't do anything with a flute or a clarinet. Which is too bad, because I love the sound these instruments make.
I've always wanted to learn how to reboot my motivation, too. Sometimes I just run dry of reasons to get up in the morning, too. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to reboot the whole morning, and change your outlook on things?

I always wanted to learn sign language but as a parent, doing stuff solely for my own benefit is a luxury. I tried to get my teen daughter interested without success. I was passing time fumbling through the abc's with my 5 year old and now she loves it and wants to learn more so we are going to learn together.
I'd like to learn spanish too....its so necessary in Cali.

Honestly, I always with I'd learned to play guitar. I can dabble on it, but I never really applied myself. I'm still entertaining the idea of learning just for kicks.

I've always wanted to learn how to fly planes. Originally I planned on flight school to get into the Air Force. That never came to be, but flying is still one of my passions. I might never fly a B-29, but just once, I'd like to do a barrel roll.
