I have had two boyfriends (not at the same time) and ended up breaking up with both of them, telling both of them I wanted to be friends. They said yeah, okay. Now both of them don't even talk to me. They agreed to be friends but now they ignore me. Why?

I think it's stupid when people break up and say let's be friends. These boys were just dumped by you and do you really think they want to be friends with you now. Every time they see you their going to be reminded of that. Worst if you found yourself another boy friend they're going to be jealous of him. As for why they said they will be friends... I haven't the slightest idea why they even said that because I know they didn't mean it when they said it. Unless they were pretending they weren't hurt when you broke it off with them.

Give them a break, you broke up with them. When you date someone, you take the chance of losing the friendship because for most people it's too hard to be friends in the aftermath. You can find other friends.

cause it's not easy to just be friends right away. if you meet up far down the line and things look good, then sure friendship is cool. But, depending on the relationship of course, being friend right off the bat isn't good and will either end in getting back together and having it split again soon or stupid jealously on someones part.

It is normal. I have found it is easier to get over someone if you don't talk to them. A girl broke up with me and said she wanted to be friends, but every time I called her she hung up on me. She did not really want to be friends, but it made it easier to get over her.

I've heard that (and said also) let's be friends, and it never happens. It's just polite to say that. I wouldn't want to be friends with any of my ex's.

Some people are able to do that and some aren't. Too, Maybe what they saw in you didn't ever have anything to do with friendship.

they might've told you they wanted to be friends not to hurt you. or you might've just grown apart and dont really have a need to talk to you. they could just need time.
