Why are they so close minded? It is like they think that only they are right, no one else can be! I believe in the end there will be a lot of surprised so-called Christians because a lot more people will be there than they thought! All of Jesus teachings was love (which many of them cannot seem to comprehend!) not hate and warmongering!!!

Check out Matthew 23: 13-36. Modern day Christians have become like the Pharisees because they choose not to follow God's word and God's love. Christians today rather serve pagan traditions, man made rules, and their own concepts of right and wrong. God gets lost in this and people wonder why so many people are losing their faiths.

Pharisee: A member of an ancient Jewish sect that emphasized strict interpretation and observance of the Mosaic law in both its oral and written form.
A hypocritically self-righteous person.

There are "pharisees" in every belief and walk of life. When you say present day christians are pharisees you are making a blanket statement and that is not fair. There are some who do act like that but not all christians.

I believe in Jesus' teachings and try to live my life according to those teachings. If that makes me closed minded then I am guilty. I don't agree with other's beliefs. Most people have their own belief system and don't agree with others. That is totally ok unless that person is shoving their belief down other's throats.

I think atheists are the most closed minded of them all. They will have nothing to do w/ any belief in God and they make that well known to all who will listen.

I believe some are and some are not, but it is not our pace to judge. The Pharisees knew the law and pretended to be better than everyone else because they "upheld" the law. Jesus showed them that they were not righteous in their actions because they did things to be seen of men, not to bring glory to God. There are many Christians that do things to be seen of men and that believe they adhere strictly to Christ's teaching because they don't drink, smoke, curse, whatever. What they forget to see is that they also don't love unconditionally, give charity, show compassion, etc. When we get to heaven I don't think God is going to say, "What did you NOT do in my name?" I think He will ask "What good DID you do in my name?"

I have not spoken to a single modern Jewish scholar who can even tell me what a Pharisee was. There was no such group known in Jewish history, only Christian.
