First of all, talk to someone about the depression, preferably someone who's outside of whatever the problems are causing it. I went through about 3 years of really intense depression, and it was amazing how much better it got when I started talking through what was wrong and letting go of those things.

Also, if your friends are also into these darker things that interest you, start making boundaries about what you will and won't do with them, what you will read, what music you'll listen to. You know you don't want that to be what defines your life, so be sure you're making practical choices that will get you to where you want to be.

About being attracted to dark things, I don't know how much you pray right now, but if this is something you don't want in your life, it's something God can take out of your life. You don't have to make your own life perfect, just tell God what's happening and let him help you find your answers. In Isaiah 42 it says "I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them." And if you love God, you know that he keeps promises like that. He has great plans for your life, so don't let these darker things take you away from that.

This is not meant to be trite. You are going through a phase. It's normal. I went through a similar phase as a teen and I'm now 34 and am perfectly fine. The more you obsess about how bad it is, the more attractive it becomes. So, dress goth/play modern vampire. The fact is, you are only acting a part. It's like playing dress up with lots of black instead of glitter. If it comes to self-harm or harm of others, however, then you should seek counseling to figure out why you have these needs. If you aren't hurting yourself or anyone else then it's just a phase.

Trust me sweet heart its not worth it.
It may be fun now but it will get old just listen to God and bury your face in His Word....Its not a good time to let go of God.
You do NOT know the time He will come back or death can be a punch sometimes. Take it from me fight the Good fight of Faith The Bible says Not to desire those things- so the only thing left to do is renew your mind in His Word and keep surrounding yourself with other believers for the encouragement in your walk.
All it takes is a turn-around Turn from the wickedness in this world!
Its yucky and seperates you from God....taste and see that the Lord is Good.
Maybe get some new music......it doesn't matter what you wear just keep your heart right! God Knows it!
Are you burned Out?? bored??
Just stay in the Word.
Remember this.....You have a Godly Purpose Don't EVER forget it!
He will not Leave You Nor Forsake You!!
The righteous may fall BUT they get back up!

This darkness is within you as well, it is called the shadow side. denying it in yourself and making yourself feel guilty over its existence is one sure fire way to drive yourself mad. You'd be surprised how much more accepting of your Christian beliefs the goth/vampire people will be than most Christians are of their implicit religion.

Jesus did not hang out among the righteous. he hung out with people who were generally considered by the holy rollers to be the outcasts and the bad people. When asked why, Jesus replied, essentially, that it is not the well who need a doctor but the sick. I don;t mean that condescendingly either, not like you need to go proseletyze. Not at all. Rather, I mean it is better to be a good person and maintain your ability to believe by participating in a non-Christian community than it would be to be tortured and self-absorbed in a Christian one.

If there's one thing the dark group will teach you it's that labels are almost always the source of pain and can often be safely discarded.

Scritching you behind your fuzzy little ears: It sounds like it wouldn't hurt for you to talk to someone who is professional at helping you through the depressive state, and find what the cause is.

Clinging to the darker aspects may bring you temporary happiness, so you shouldn't cling to them, but embrace them, figure out why they feel so good. Remember Goth isn't all about "darkness" really, it's just a state of dress and appearance that you project to the rest of the world and enjoy wearing/acting yourself.

None of the above can cause an altruistic heart, like yours, to really slide into anything non-virtuous unless you let it. Remember, you're a very sweet person, no matter how you dress/present yourself in clothes and make-up. Don't be afraid to seek help if it gets too "out of hand", trust me, there's not really any REAL stigma in it... we who love ya will always love ya... fangs and all. *w*

Btw, I speak from experience... does it give you any ideas that I'm Goth/punk and am STILL a Buddhist? It's all in how you view things and who rules what.

Your not really attracted to darkness in and of itself, it is
probably more like you are attracted to the uniqueness or
sincerity or strength or something like that.
It could be a void you have in your life with relationship to
others and/or self and you may be "hungry" for something
else (that you have not pinpointed) - like when we eat
fastfood when what we are really hungry for and what
will satisfy the most is a healthy meal - something missing. Think about all your relationships and outlets and find out what you are REALLY wanting that God wants for you too! This can and should be done with prayer, of course.
Think about what your greatest fears and anxieties are
as well. Our motivations are complex sometimes (God understands our hearts better than we do), it is best to
be as sincere as possible - clear away the clutter - get
down to the basics to uncover what is the truth
and light.

God Bless!

I hope that helped :0)

You must not have actually given your whole heart to Christ yet, and that is why the devil is pushing, I warn you to beware, you are heading in the wrong direction, and need to quit, God will take your depression away, you need to put away, The devil leads to hell, burning for eternity, you have to stop, if you are getting this far you better turn around now,
God is calling you back, how would you like a bunch of demons to come in and take root in your body, because it won't be no more, you will be handing it over to satan, if this is not enough to scare you straight, I don't know what is, you are making yourself open to satan by these things, and don't think they won't happen, they will.
Only God cares for you, wants you happy, and Loves you, Only through Jesus Christ you can find eternal life, eternal happiness, only through confessing all of your sins and asking forgiveness and meaning it, turning away from the evil, that don't care about you, wants to watch you burn, you have to turn from this, you have to go to God, God loves you right now,and see's you slipping away, don't say goodbye to your soul, eternal think about it, YOU, YOur thoughts, your mind your soul, do not give up on someone I know has a good heart that the devil snuck in some depression and made feel this girl had nowhere else to turn, cuz that is how he works deceit, lies and trickery, you need to come running back to God, He is waiting for you.

Who do you think the devil would most like to tempt? The ones who are already under his control? NO!! It is the Christians he will work on the most and once he gets them, they will be under him until they run back to Jesus. Satan forces people to do things.....God does not. God "draws" us to Him but will never force his love. (Jer. 31:3) The grass is ALWAYS gonna look greener on the other side of the fence....that is just the way nature is. Wickedness will ALWAYS look glamorous and glitsy....will always look like WAY more fun! It is not a matter of FEELING but a matter of CHOICE. You know the outcome of both sides.... I will pray for you to make the right choice TODAY and every day!

It would seem to me that you don't really see sin for what it is.

You need to picture Jesus on the cross, after having had his back torn up; by 39 lashes with a cat-o-nine tails. Look at the blood flowing from his brow where the crown of thorns was thrust down on his head. Look at the blood from his face where his beard was yanked out and his face was beaten and bruised. Look at the nails in his hands and the blood flowing from the sword-pierced hole in his side. Look deeply into His eyes of love, and see His compassion for you. Listen to Him as He cries out, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do!"

Then, remember that this should have been YOU!

Every time you sin, you're pounding another nail into His hand, or at least helping to pound the nail in deeper!

Think about what your attractions are costing Jesus, and remember that He who knew no sin actually became sin for YOU, and that He traded places with you. He, who had been with God for all eternity, was for the first time ever, cut off from the Father when He cried out, "MY GOD! MY GOD! Why have you forsaken me?"

And remember that YOU are doing this to him.

When you see all this in your mind's eye, and it starts tearing you apart, and you start crying over the things you've done to Him, then cry out to God for forgiveness and deep cleansing. Renounce the darkness and repent of it, and ask Jesus to be the Lord (boss) of your life. If necessary, fast and every time you get hungry, pray. Seek God with ALL your heart in deep repentance, and if necessary, throw away or burn any paraphenalia that you've been involved in. Then, when you continue in your life, do your gut-level best to determine never to go in that direction again, and trust God to give you the strength and courage to stay clean from all this stuff.

God bless you as you seek His help to put all this stuff behind you and to nail it all to the cross.

You are getting sucked in the opposite direction my dear. Keep your eyes & mind focused on the things of God. You don't have to go the other way just because you feel attracted to it. It is YOUR CHOICE and your choice alone. If you ask God to guard your heart and mind he will. If you dabble in the dark side you will go deeper and deeper. Be careful.
