They don't. That is why they are such hypocritical people. Have you ever went to Wendover Nevada? It is lined up with UTAH plates from side to side at their casinos!
Christmas eve you can't even drive past any of the state liquor stores because there are so many "Mormons" who are getting their booze!
And before you try to tell me that just because there is the Utah license plates on the cars doesn't meant that they are Mormon, I WORKED directly WITH Mormons, and I can tell you differently. They also smoked just like everyone else too.

Mormons don't abstain from everything. Take Joseph Smith, for example. He didn't abstain from "marrying" women who were already married. I'm not seeing a whole lot of "abstinence" there. Check the link.

Your body is a temple and you are to treat it as holy and respectfully. So you aren't supposed to do things that would harm it in any way. They have their certain things that assumably are known "bad" things to do. But truth is....there are tons more because I'm not sure anything is safe anymore. Doesn't mean it's not an admirable thing to strive for though.

drugs, booze & cigs are bad for you. sex is to be within the bonds of marriage & it cuts out the sexually transmitted diseases

They don't. I haven't met a Mormon yet, (and I know a lot, lot, lot of them,) who has abstained from any of that.

i dont really know for sure but i think its because its a sin to allow yourself to be controlled by something considered toxic to the body but i might be wrong
