Marines very emotional.

Don't say "CRY". I stated CNN and ABC, BBC show Marines weeping around a rifle and it cost me 10 points. The Marines were praying and weeping for a fallen soldier.

Well its symbolic of the all units in the military when one of their men has been killed in combat. But then again they probably are crying because the helmet does'nt have your name on it!!

When a marine (or army) soldier was killed in combat, he'd have a pancho put over him, or hastily buried with a trenching tool. They'd put the bayonet on his rifle and stick it in the ground with the helmet on top of that to make it easy for the graves registration group to retrieve the body. These acts grew into a tradition that represents mourning a fallen comrade.

It's in respect for one of our fallen comrades. A comrade that died so people could do what ever they wanted to do. A comrade who did not run from his country, but rather gave his life for it, no matter what other may say for feel about any war.

It is a symbol everyone should know and understand and now that many do, pass it along to your children so they don't forget.

You'd have to be in a combat military unit to begin to understand and comprehend the terrible grief survivors experience when one of their brothers or sisters die. Those Marines were doing what each and every one of us should do for every fallen American GI.

It's almost logical. One or many of them got killed. A rifle stuck on the ground with a helmet usually means dead infantry.
