The easy answer:
+ Accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior
+ Be baptized and spiritually born again
+ Follow the teachings of Jesus Christ
+ Do not commit mortal sin
The complicated answer:
We are already saved:
+ “For in hope we were saved.” (Romans 8:24)
+ “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from you; it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:5-8)
We are being saved:
+ “He will keep you firm to the end, irreproachable on the day of our Lord Jesus.” (1 Corinthians 1:8)
+ “For we are the aroma of Christ for God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.” (2 Corinthians 2:15)
+ “So then, my beloved, obedient as you have always been, not only when I am present but all the more now when I am absent, work out your salvation with fear and trembling.” (Philippians 2:12)
We have the hope that we will be saved:
+ “How much more then, since we are now justified by his lood, will we be saved through him from the wrath. Indeed, if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how much more, once reconciled, will we be saved by his life.” (Romans 5:9-10)
+ “If anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, the work of each will come to light, for the Day will disclose it. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire (itself) will test the quality of each one's work. If the work stands that someone built upon the foundation, that person will receive a wage. But if someone's work is burned up, that one will suffer loss; the person will be saved, but only as through fire.” (1 Corinthians 3:12-15)
Like the Apostle Paul, we are working out our salvation in “fear and trembling,” (Philippians 2:12) and with hopeful confidence in the promises of Christ:
+ “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access (by faith) to this grace in which we stand, and we boast in hope of the glory of God.” (Romans 5:2)
+ “This saying is trustworthy: If we have died with him we shall also live with him; if we persevere we shall also reign with him. But if we deny him he will deny us. If we are unfaithful he remains faithful, for he cannot deny himself. (2 Timothy 2:11–13)
With love in Christ.

Catholics believe that salvation is achieved by doing the will of God. Protestants believe it comes from professing faith in Christ and relying fully on his intercession. Both kinds of Christians have biblical backing for their positions. Both have a keen political interest in discrediting the others' doctrinal positions.
Protestants, quoting Paul's Letter to the Romans, condemn Catholics for preaching "works", that ones' own efforts can gain God's forgiveness for the natural, sinful state of humanity. Catholics, quoting the Letter of James, argue that faith is meaningless if there is not a corresponding demonstration of its effect in one's life through one's actions.
The Protestant motivation is to invalidate the Catholic claim that humans can intercede on behalf of each other before God, by emphasizing the essentialness of a personal, individual relationship with Jesus, the only true intercessor. Catholics are motivated to preserve the historical understanding of salvation in community, as the "people of God", the "Body of Christ". Each side has its credits and flaws.
Personally, I think concentration on "salvation" is entirely too self-serving and un-Christian. We should do whatever we can to challenge injustice and help the poor and powerless, without regard to ultimate motivation. We should act like Jesus would, because it's right, not because we want a reward or to avoid punishment. The more we concern ourselves with our own security, the farther we are from Christ.

That's absolutely right. If we were to abide by a system of works we would still be under the Law of the sacrificial system. Christ's atoning sacrifice on the cross is a fulfillment of that.
Now we obey in faith and spirit. The Ten Commandments His way and forgiveness for not being able to live up to them by means of our own works.
Catholicism is Roman paganism modern day with a cross on the door. Jesus has a better, more fulfilling, and promising way to lead you to salvation and Catholicism isn't it.

confident, it is their teachings. so a procedures as Catholics asserting, "What if a Buddhist on no account hears the gospel the place will he pass? it is as much as God to return to a decision no longer the Pope. God's a honest decide, I have faith His judgments. additionally, sin isn't failing to take heed to the gospel. somewhat, "... sin is the transgression of the regulation" (a million John 3:4). And the regulation is encoded in our hearts (Romans 2:14-15). All people have a basic theory of what's morally impressive and morally incorrect including homicide, stealing, mendacity, and committing adultery, and so on. as quickly as we beak His rules, we are devoid of excuse. all of us desires the atonement that Jesus made for us on the go.

There is but one way to the Father....
Through Jesus Christ alone
Acts 4:12 “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”
Works will not get you there......
Traditions wont do it........
Membership in a certain type of church wont do it.....
Only through faith & trust in Christ

Your faith is to believe and because you believe you do all that Jesus commanded that you do.
To learn who you are is first in His commandments, if you do not know who you are and from where you came, you will never understand His Words.
How can you do that which He commanded you if you do not understand His speech.
