The Lord proved existence to the people by taking them out of Egypt, bringing great plagues on to their oppressors. The Lord nourished them when they were hungry, and gave them drink when they were thirsty. The Lord opened up the seas for them.
The Lord came down and spoke directly to the people. These people, who were witness, did not follow the word. Who am I to think that I can make a difference if the Lord could not?
The proof is all around us. Everyone has been witness to a miracle at one time or another. Non believers come up with reasons. We have seen things that defy all logic. Again, non believers come up with more reasons. I bet if the Lord came down right now, people will still deny. All I want to say to believers is to keep the word of the Lord in your hearts, and don't bother with athiests. You can't help someone who doesn't want it.Let them waste their time figuring what caused the Big bang if there isnt anything there to cause it,or how humans came from apes.

I wonder why your God would task you with spreading the good news if it was impossible. By 'not bothering' with Atheists, aren't you neglecting the one specific task Jesus sent you out to perform?
I think one of the problems you are facing is that when you read the OT and see everything the Lord did for the Jews, it becomes hard to believe that they would continue in disbelief. I agree. If I personally witnessed the Red Sea parting, NO ONE could convince me that God couldn't lead me to the promised land, NO ONE could convince me to ignor God and go against his commandments.
So either the Israelites were exceedingly stupid, or the red sea didn't part as told in Exodus.
If you look at the OT stories pragmatically it actually makes allot of sense. The Israelites (and the rest of humanity) experience hardships, like plague and drought that cause harm and death. They decided that a God was responsible for these things, and came up with a set of rules that were impossible for an entire community to uphold. That way, when there was famine, they could look around them and find sinners to blame for God's wrath.
In reality, there was no God sending diseased quails into their midst. They just needed to grasp onto some 'meaning' for disaster.
The miracle stories never happened, but were embellishments that grew overtime, just like any family story does after a few years of retelling.

Oh, but didn't everyone of us start out as an un-believer, I Know my aunt preached and preached to me, and I'm like what in the world is she talking about, I'm listening sort of but not following, and then it was right back to my drink, over and over this went on, I wouldn't let go and trust the Lord, I wanted to live it my way, cuz I thought I knew what was best, evidently after long heartache, living on the steets with my son, being homeless, in abusive relationships, my life was in shambles, until I gave up on me, and said I can't do it alone, and God came into my life, I am not alone anymore and I refuse to give up on other people that need the Lord that might be in the same situation I was in, because they might not listen now, but you will be planting a seed for later.

Actually, I do believe that when Christ comes back people are going to mistake him and his angels for aliens. We are led to believe this in Revelations... the world will be at war with Christ when he returns.
Why bother? Because Christ told us to care about the spiritual status of others. However, it does no good to try and teach or preach to a hard heart. I don't push my beliefs on anyone, including my children. Those who are interested and ask questions are the ones we are to be concerned with.
I am a Christian who believes in evolution through intelligent design. God does not bring disasters upon people. We are all victims of weather, not God's wrath. Christians' ideas and beliefs should evolve as new scientific discoveries are made. God doesn't want us to be ignorant. I'm sure that it is much more difficult for Christians to convert atheists and others, if they have not evolved themselves.

As a non-theist I agreed with everything until you got to the 'proof' & 'apes' part.
Also if someone is atheist by the base meaning of the word they're simply religiously neutral. Personally I've said for most of my life only god could prove god. So if god showed up then I would say "That's all I've been asking for. Was that so hard?"
"Extreme claims require extreme evidence" is almost the motto of many atheists. All that most are saying is humans can't prove the existence of god any more than they could prove the existence of (pick you favorite thing that has no evidence).
Lastly aren't you denying that god is all-knowing and all-powerful? You just said he wouldn't know how to convince everyone and/or wouldn't have the ability.

It takes actually very little to convince atheists. Yet the all-powerful creator of the universe can't even manage to impress a few measly lowly creatures on a fringe planet on the edge of a regular galaxy.
I'd be convinced if someone speaking for God could make a human spontaneously, and on the spot, regrow an entire limb. I can think of lots of examples that under normal circumstances would be considered impossible, but even that God cannot manage. Why? Because there is no god, as simple as that.

I agree with you 100%. However God can do anything that is where free will comes in. But other than that I agree you try to tell them once if they deny well keep it moving. Save your energy for someone who wants to get to know him and doesn't know how.
