For baits that light a spinning outfit will be necessary. Lightweight lures less than 3/16oz are very difficult to cast on a baitcaster without backlashing. Rod sensitivity has more to do with materials, design, action, power and construction used in manufacturing than length does. For the type of fishing you are doing I would choose a 7 foot quality graphite light-medium or medium power depending on what size line you are using, a fast tip action, spinning rod. A drop-shot rod would be ideal. Kistler makes a great one:http://www.kistlerrods.com/p/KR/c-/MgAPM70S.html

If you're fishing deep, it's better to use a spinning reel so you can keep letting the line feed until the bait hits bottom. If you're fishing shallow it's more of a personal preference. I fish all baitcasters unless I'm fishing deep.

The sensitivity of a rod depends more on the manufacturer and the material used to make the rod blank. i.e. a G-loomis in any length is more sensitive than most rods, but they're $$$$ bucks!!! But I'm guessing your asking in reference to the above setup. I always use a 7 foot MH rod with my t-rig. I can cast it further and it won't flex as much during the jigging of the worm.

Sounds like spinning is better for your choice. I do use a spinnng rod for spefic situations, but usually use a baitcaster.

The length of the rod isn't as important as the quality. Use a graphite rod for best results. Good choice in florocarbon line. Braid is good as well.

It was mentioned about G-Loomis, but Falcon makes an excellent rod for a fraction of the cost...both spinning and baitcasters.

well i use both, but i prefer bait caster over a spinning reel.for bass fishing only.for pan fish i like my ultra light spinning reel,or if i fish for big cat fish i use a heavy action spinning reel, and your 7 foot rod gives you better casting in distance and more accurate.so hope this helps some, good luck, and long live the fisherman.
