It doesn't have to be. However, your question does presume the existence of such an object, and being an "uncaused first object" is rather a prerequisite for being the Christian God, so it's at least a step along the way.

You are the proof. More specifically I am the proof. I am ABSOLUTELY certain I exist. I can only be reasonably certain that you or anyone else exists. My limitations tell me I am not omnipotent. Therefore, the ME (awareness as intellect and will), which are my main and only strengths, require something greater than I since I already know I am not omnipotent in that regard. We define omnipotent as God.

Because it fits in nicely with the claim that a deity cares about them personally.

If there was a God who created the universe, then they have a purpose in life and have specific value.

Its a very insipid indoctrination.

(former Xian, but...)

Since "God" is frequently thought of as the most powerful force in the universe, I think whatever got this whole universe ball rolling can lay claim to the title, even though I don't anthropomorphize whatever it was/is.

Because that's the term for "I don't know". They just like to call it god so it fits in with their fairy tale.
