Please Help....My digital Camera will no longer load pic to my PC with a USB adapter..any suggestions?

I have always loaded my pics by hooking my camera to the PC with a USB cable, but when I tried it the other day it wouldn't load the pics. I have tried using a different USB port, a different cable and also a different camera. I still get the same result. The message says that the camera can not be detected......ugh. Everything else that is hooked to my PC with USB cables is working fine. I even tried a system restore and nothing is working. My daughter has a B-day party this weekend and I was going to allow all of the girls to do a digital makeover, but I need to be able to load their pictures to the computer for that to work. Please help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Agreed, buy a card reader, then you are not wasting your camera's batteries.
