I don't understand -- I don't give people thumbs down for not believing in God. Is it the sole assumption that because I believe in God, I do not accept your beliefs, either?
I am not the type of person to rely every action that has ever happened on the basic belief that "God did it."
Why is there so much hate? Why can't one just answer the question? Do you always give thumbs up or thumbs down based on whether or not you agree with the answerers opinion, or does anyone here actually give a thumbs up if it answers the question?

Good insight, WhatsYourProblem... I am newer in the R&S section, I usually participate in LGBT, where thumbs up/thumbs down makes a big splash, as well.

Actually, Demetri, I hide my answers because I get stalked by a girl called on LGBT. Do a search for my name. She asks questions about all the time.
It's not the first time it has happened to me. Simply from being honest about my sexuality, people have followed me around on questions, saying degrading things about me. That is why my questions are hidden, and only my friends can read them.

Furthermore, I tried to add you to my contacts to show you, but you are not allowing anyone to be added. Maybe you should change?

I am sure I am the first to be accused of "ranting" in the R&S category, as well.

Despite all of the people saying you're new and everything else, I don't find that you should be slaughtered by these answers for what you are saying. Answers is flawed, thank you, we know that (to the rest of the answerers), but I don't see why it's so wrong to point out these flaws to others so that maybe the people who do the thumbs-down incorrectly will read and grow up. Yahoo! Answers only works if there is some sort of code of conduct that the general population on here follows. If there isn't, you can't trust a thing. Sure, it's the internet and you take it with a grain of salt, but in general I think this works pretty well, and if there aren't questions like these that keep people who are breaking rules of conduct in check, then the whole system could go completely to sh it.
I admit that I have trouble with this, too, and I have to catch myself. You're right, it's completely wrong to not take into account the actual question and the completeness of the answer. You can't devalue an answer that actually ANSWERS the question--that's what people are here for, to get different opinions and views. If a Jesus person has an answer including a Bible verse, I automatically want to thumbs-down it because I (being an atheist) obviously disagree, but if I read it through and it seems to actually answer the question (and it's different from mine just because it's from a Christian perspective), I have to stop myself. I think it'd be nice if other people did the same...including Christians to atheists (you think??). Good question and thank you.

Thumbs down are neither sticks or stones.
But having said that, I am a little uncomfortable with giving either thumbs up or thumbs down. I think these signs can be abused.
However, are you sure you are getting thumbs down for believing in God or for giving such lousy arguments in favor of your belief.
Sometimes I have received thumbs down because my answer did not fit the question or make sense.

You might not give thumbs down, but others do. I have gotten many thumbs down just for saying that I am Atheist. It most likely isn't anything personal against you. But there are some that get thumbs up/down just because of who they are, no matter what their answer is.

It's just an opinion of another person. That's what the thumbs up and thumbs down thing is for.... So people can give their opinion.
I am a christian too, and sometimes I get the thumbs down from people who don't believe. But I don't take it personal. I excpect it from them anyway.

Honey, there are a lot of people around here who'll give you a thumbs-down because you have vowels in your name. I understand how you feel, but you can't take it seriously. Give the best answers you can, be honest, and ignore the thumbs.

You are new here, I can tell.
If you are going to take stuff personally, this is not a good place to play. I love getting thumbs downs when I know that I said something that I know is true that Christians are going to have a problem with. The more the better. It tells me that they actually read my answer.

Why do you worry about anonymous thumbs up or down?
If you dont get an occasional thumbs down then you are being way too bland with your answers.
There are some regulars on this site that I would hope give me a thumbs down. Holocaust deniers, Creationists, bigots, anyone that knows they are right and KNOWS everyone else is wrong, Francine.... Anytime I can get their disapproval, I know its gonna be a good day.

HEY, WHO GAVE ME A THUMBS DOWN???..which one of you small minded sob's did that, you dirty rotten.......

Stop blocking your answers so people can answer. Since you hide your answers, having nothing to go on there is no way to answer. I can only assume from the fact that you're hiding that you're giving people good reason to give you thumbs down. In fact I would probably give you a thumbs down for asking this question or rather posting your rant.
And no it's not because of hate so stop feeling sorry for yourself.

"I tried to add you to my contacts to show you, but you are not allowing anyone to be added. Maybe you should change?"
But I'm not asking anyone to add me to their contacts while you are asking a question about something and yet hiding it at the same time. It's crystal clear you just wanted to rant. It's fine I'm not judging you for it nor do I care but you can't deny it's just a rant.

I would only give you thumbs down if you answered in an intolerant, hateful or bigoted manner. Otherwise, you are entitled to your opinion whether I agree with it or not.

the first mistake is to take things personally....
please note the obvious fact that people are creatures of emotion and this subject brings about the strongest feeling...there are those (many in fact) that are not mature enough to handle differing beliefs
