Garlic is toxic to cats and dogs.

I use Revolution every month as a preventative for heartworms, fleas, ticks, and other nasties. It is about $6-$8 a month for each cat, but worth it. I but it in bulk so I get a reduced price. I think it is $12-$16 if you buy it by the individual tubes. I buy a year's supply at once from the vet.

Consult your vet before trying any flea product. A phone call is free.

Also, most flea products sold in the stores is dangerous to your pets. There is no regulation on those flea products.

Yeah, people are always suggesting it on here, it really bugs me. While garlic may have some use in repelling some insects, there's no reason it would repel fleas - and the amount excreted through the skin of the animal would be minute anyway - unless you fed a large amount of the stuff, which would be toxic to the animal!

Get some proper treatment, i.e Frontline, Revolution or Advantage!

Probably effective to kill fleas by killing cat first - starvation. Cant see any cat volunteering to down garlic powder. The only sure way to kill fleas is frontline. Excellent stuff - not too expensive either £16 for 3 pipettes. It works.

Garlic and onions will both kill your kitty.

There are many people foods that are bad for cats that we dont even consider. In fact milk is bad for cats because they are lactose intolerant and it can cause skin irritation. Tomatos are another no no. Ive written an article about some foods that are bad for cats if your interested. Heres the link and if you decide to give it a look over leave me a message. :-)

Garlic powder is a great thing to add to your pets food. Garlic does contain trace amounts of thiosulphate which in large quantities is toxic to pets. However you pet would have to eat a ton of garlic to have any ill effects. (Onions on the other hand contain a great amount of thiosulphate and even a small amount of onion can be harmful to your pet.) A lot of holistic vets recommend giving your pet garlic powder to help with flea and tick prevention, it's a great alternative to putting harmful chemicals on your pet.

Garlic is bad for cats. Frontline is a good way to control fleas. Don't do things that are not instructed by the vet.

Cat owners: Please be aware that raw garlic is known to be toxic to cats. According to Dr. Randy Kidd, the use of garlic, as well as onions, shallots and chives, has been shown to cause damage to feline red blood cells which can result in hemolytic anemia and eventual death. Raw garlic and onions can also cause ulcers and irritation of the mouth, esophagus and stomach.

I took the above paragraph from the first source listed below... you can look at these articles and also do a Yahoo search for GARLIC AND FLEA TREATMENT for more information.
