Have a long soak, or if it's your face drape it in wet cloth while you're having a soak. Let your skin soak for at least 10 minutes so the dead skin will come off easier. Then using a scrub mitt or similar and a very gentle soap and gently scrub where you're dry.
Have a spritzer with water and a little vinegar, to mist after scrubbing. It will break down the soap molecules and get it all off when you rinse off.
Then use a good moisturizer. If you can apply it more than once a day, it will help to prevent your skin drying out. However, you should repeat the exfoliation scrub at least ever 3 days, as we all have a layer of dead skin form by then. If you don't remove it, you end up with layer on layer of dead skin, and then you get itchy.
I blend a little Desitin zinc cream and Cetaphil lotion (for sensitive skin) together and use it morning, night and after exfoliation. The Zinc cream helps create a more effective barrier to protect my skin from drying out as well as from exposure to irritants, like make-up.

I swear I'm going to preach this foundation until the day they put me in the ground, studio sculpt SPF 15 foundation by MAC.!!!! I have incredibly dry skin that flakes and peels off, etc. and this is the only foundation that I find does not leave my skin flaking or cakey. Yes the price tag can be off-putting but trust me it's very wroth it. I highly recommend you purchase a setting spray and finishing powder if you want that air-brushed look. The finishing powder will take any shine from your face and set your makeup while the setting spray will also set your makeup and get rid of the cakey powdery look on your skin after putting on powder. As for brushes, they are almost as important as your makeup. Poor applicator = poor results I hope I helped.!

Lots of lotion, everyday. It's best to apply it right after you shower. Also using Dove soap, it doesn't dry your skin out as much. If it's an area like your knees or elbows that are dry, try exfoliating in the shower & then apply lotion when you get out.

Try either vaseline or Aquaphor (which is dermatologist recommended). In addition, you can use the Cetaphil or Eucerin moisturizer, which is great for dry skin.

lacking lotion, try some olive oil, it's really good.
Avoid salt and honey, it dehydrates.
