I'm so far Left that I came out the other side, and agree with the Right wingers on quite a few things.

These labels, like most labels that are applied to people, are a tool that it is useful in some situations, when attempting to identify issues or common ground between groups, but are also all too frequently used to dismiss the opinions of anyone or any group who doesn't agree with you: "Oh, who cares what that windbag thinks, he's just a right-winger", or "Don't listen to them, they're all just lesbian left-wingers".

The truth is, that everyone has their own viewpoints, and it is extremely rare for anyone to agree on every issue with someone else.

I myself am generally WAAAAY to the left on most subjects, but I support capital punishment for heinous, repeat offenders (and I think that child molestation should be on that capital crime list), and do not support most gun control efforts (especially not the asinine gun registry system we have in Canada). This often puts me in diametric opposition to other 'left wingers' depending on the topic of discussion.

So if you are hard to categorize, then embrace that! Don't let anyone stick a label on you! Be an individual!!

Screw wings, what's wrong with being a constitutional American. That whole left and right label garbage has helped to make our country weaker.

But I'm just a skeptic, cynic, fiscal conservative, social libertarian, moral prude, teetotaling, rock and roll, cracker.

Try "The Political Compass" (see below)
Not only is "Left/Right" on a spectrum, so is
"Libertarian/Authoritarian"

Which in part explains why extreme left and right figures often seem to have features in common: they are often similarly located on the authoritarian axis.

It is our basic ideas of what makes a good family. There is a Nurturing Parent model of the family and a Strict Father model and whichever we hold gets applied to politics and religion and determines our political thinking and our beliefs about God.

Edit: Oh, and yes you can be a bit of both.

Well this can only be determined by what you define as the "center" and the "center" keeps moving to the left so really the definition is contextual only.
