I am 28 weeks pregnant and since last Fri my feet have been swelling up. At my doctors appointment Tuesday I mentioned this to him. He asked me if they look normal in the morning; yes. But all he said to me after that was to keep my feet elevated as much as possible, avoid salt and "since your blood pressure was fine, we will check them in 4 weeks"... ok- he's the doc. Well this morning I woke up and my feet were kinda swollen, but now they are huge. What do you think?

madien- There is nothing wrong with swollen feet during a pregnancy. it is perfectly normal. if your doctor told you not to worry about it i wouldn't.

I don't have any children but i was with my sister the whole 9 months and he feet swelled up like crazy......

If you are to afraid check with the doctor again but i'm positive he will just put you on bed rest....

I am 37 weeks with my first and my feet stay swollen 24 hours a day. At this point I can't wear a single pair of my regular shoes. I have menitioned it to my Dr. and she said that it was normal and not to worry about. She told me to do the same thing your Dr. told you. I have found that this doesn't really help much. My Dr. has never seemed concerned about it. Its completly normal and unless your in pain, I wouldn't worry about it. Good luck! I know I will be glad when I can wear regular shoes and my wedding rings again (hands stay swollen too) Too much extra water! :)

it is edema. It is natural. I have to wear compression hose because of it. (i sometimes wear it) Just drink more water and elevate. I would let the doctor know. Now if you get the swelling that does not go down after 12 hours, I would not wait till the 27th but call in the morning and see if they want to see you. I was freaked out when it first happened and my hands got swollen, so I called the next day and they had me come in and gave me a prescription for the hose. good luck

I had swollen feet and actually wound up with preeclampsia and both of my children were born premature. One 6 wks early and the other 2 weeks early. Don't let you doctor brush it off but also don't stress about it too much. Just make sure your doctor is checking your levels for protein and you are going for NST's (non stress tests). Good luck and stay off your feet as much as possible.

Have your protein level checked.

Otherwise, swollen feet are pretty normal in pregnancy. Keep them elevated, dont eat salt, drink more water, wear better supporting shoes.

My feet were so swollen that I broke a pair of flipflop straps.
But really, its no big deal as long as you take care of yourself. Everyone gets swolled feet, it is a part of preg.

I had this too...by 40 weeks they were huge! If it goes on they will monitor you for protien in your urine and keep an eye on your blood pressure as these symptoms point to preeaclampsia.
