"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
Matthew 5:11-16
Got to stay in the Word! It's God's source of strength and comfort to us.

I think you may have a problem with individuals as opposed to whole groups (i.e. atheist, catholics, etc...). If so, then that should be directly addressed towards them.
On the other hand, I also see a lot of anti-Catholic sentiments. Is it then okay for anti-Catholic sentiments to be expressed, but other "anti" sentiments not to be???
I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion and beliefs...it's when you try to force your upon others and/or when you don't listen with an open mind that it gets tricky. Ultimately, people have to respect other people's faith and beliefs without trashing them. This doesn't happen too often though, so it's sad....

yea I dont think it is right either, everyone should be allowed to answer with there opinion.God is the one who gave us an opinion to express in the first place. And people should take that with an open mind. No one should put down other religions or make fun of a serious question/answer. Christianity to is a Huge Huge chunk of religion they aren't all catholic. And they dont all believe the same thing.

It seems clear to me from reading the questions and answers that many people think they will reach the other side with their witty writings. As though the Christians have never heard their points, or that the Atheist haven't had their opinion challenged. LIVE AND LET LIVE. Atheism is a belief. Christianity for most is a belief. Catholicism is also a belief.
C'mon everyone, just calm down and give people a chance to make up their own minds without you forcing them. Show love and don't intimidate. No man can come to Christ unless the Father that had sent Him draws them... Remember, the Father, not you and your wit.
GREAT QUESTION!!!

Yes! If Christianity was the way it is perceived I wouldn't be one. I wish people would learn a bit more from the average Christian, not just the right wing, before they judge. I have never told anyone they are going to hell..I have told my ex to go there. Proof that I do sin. I do not hate gays, Pagans, people of race, Jews, Muslims, or any other group..I wouldn't trust a Satanist, but I don't hate them. I have never knocked on someones door to preach the Gospel. I have talked to people about my belief "when they asked" ..

It is discouraging. All the more reason we need to heed Philippians 2:5 and following.
For the life of me I cannot understand how the teachings in the Bible, especially those of Jesus and Paul (when understood in proper context) can be so offensive to anyone.
I can understand how Christian hypocrisy can be offensive, but not God's word.

'scuze me, sister, but Catholics *are* Christians.
Now, then. To answer your question: No, I don't find it discouraging. We never really know what's behind the hatred and scorn; perhaps people have been hurt in the past by Christians.
I do find it sad when hatred is flung among Christians, though, because we should know better.

It makes me sad to hear the people who don't believe in God reply with hateful answers about religion. It sickens me when Christians respond with hateful answers too. Christians are not suppose to hate in that way.

Catholic are Christians dear. Did you know that.
What is unfortunate is not what Atheist etc reply to us. It is what we reply to each others to make other happy, we are abusing one another. When it comes from non Christians, a person can in a way understand why and respond, but when it comes from one of your own! How can a person respond!
God is Love you are right.

True, it is a little discouraging.
But we CAN'T STOP!
We are commanded not to stop, as we see here in:
Acts 1:7-8 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV)
Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society
7He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
