It is more the "passion of religion". It is for most people a very personal and important belief. It often has a lot to do with their personal identity. An attack on their religion is often seen as an attack on them and their values.
This is just as true for Muslims, Jews, Wicca, JW, etc - and even atheist. It is not limited to Christians by any means.
As Christianity is probably the most common religion for people on this YA site (English, USA), they are going to be the religion that most often gives the "thumbs down" because there are more of them.

With out a doubt. just look at how many different religions there are based on the teachings of one book and the competitive (eg wars) activities that have occurred throughout the sands of time. I am a spiritual person ie I have my own interpretation of what the teachings in the bible mean and how they should be applied to life, though I don't go to a church. nor do I intentionally push my beliefs on others
- I have a great friend who is pagan & we talk about our respective beliefs with out judging eachother & in all honesty our views on how we each percieve the universe to be - is quite facinating.

You misunderstand the purpose of the thumbs. For factual statements, a thumb down means "wrong answer, false information".
Otherwise it means "I disagree."
I'm an atheist who makes much use of the thumbs up & down. Sometimes I don't bother answering, but just register my approval and disapproval of the answers already given.
Un, "answers related to Christianity" getting a lot of thumbs down suggest that people who don't like Christianity are giving more thumbs down.

Since when is being judgmental the provenance of any faith? Heck, just look at Islam, which has more goofy rules than Christianity ever thought of. Or look at the hundreds of rules that an observant, conservative Jew must follow to be considered a person of the faith. Now THAT's judgmental.
However, you really don't have to have any faith at all to be judgmental. Just look at some of the nitwits who use this forum as a bully pulpit to bash the sincere beliefs of others.

but despite 10 thumbs down, you can still get a right answer if you agreed with the asker anyway! I use them if someone posts something that in no way attempts to answer the question, like unrelated bible quotes or a "watch out you're going to hell", or if someone asks a question to a specific religious group and people just answer "doesn't matter, that god doesn't exist".

It may appear so however any serious religious person isn't necessarily the one judging. Their faith or belief has already been judged. Example: The Bible says not to steal. If I agree with that and call a thief a thief, am I the one judging or just agreeing the Bible.

I think we all give thumbs-down to those with whom we disagree, in my case it depends on how narrowminded and hateful the opinion. The idea that non-Christians have no morals or values is simply ludicrous and holier-than-thou. I do think Christianity is wrong for ME. Obviously it works for many people, and it's not my business to try to convince everyone I'm right. Frankly not everyone could be a Pagan, you either are or you aren't. I don't believe it's a choice.

I think Christians should be open-minded and accepting of others and definately not judgmental. We are to love others and accept them for who they are. That should not be confused with agreeing with them. We don't have to agree with people in order to accept them. It is OK to find other's belief wrong as long as you don't put them down for it. We, as Christians, need to shine our light so bright that others can see we have something wonderful without having to speak a word. "So called" Christians that judge others give all of us and especially God/Jesus a bad rap.

WE have a standard not of our own making it is the creation of God. The ten Commandments and especially the second one that tells us not to worship anything but the one true God and nothing else.
In other places he tells us not to worship the way other people worship who do not know him as Jesus Christ.
Where do you get your definition and cause for judgment on we Christians from?
Is it from your own heart?
