the most about global warming has now become the biggest producer of greenhouse gases? And shouldn’t the state as a whole be sued by the federal government for doing so? They would sue another state that was doing something constructive like creating electricity to run our homes.

That must be Texas then. Total greenhouse gas emissions are almost double that of the number two ranking state - Ohio.

I haven't run the figures but it looks pretty clear cut that Texas will top the list both in terms of total greenhouse gas emissions and per capita emissions as well.

If the federal government were to successfully sue Texas then it would set a precedent by which it would also be able to sue every other state. Then inevitably one state would end up suing another state, the individual states would sue the governemnt, citizens would sue the state, the government would sue the citizens and the lawyers would be the only winners.
