It's traditional, not Biblical.
Jesus said that those taking the lead in the congregation were not to distinguish themselves from everyone else by means of clothing or titles...
(if clergymen read the Bible they might know that)

Cottons? this is an answer from around the pond i assume, yet i understand i will placed on shorts or pants or shirts once or twice greater after the 1st placed on in the event that they nevertheless scent fantastic. this is different from there is a few hidden cooties or something on a pair of pants that have been worn for at some point. study have even shown that even with the undeniable fact that some think of outfits that have been worn as quickly as are "grimy", they have an identical volume of micro organism 40 days after the 1st wash.

I am not sure what the official doctrine of clergy garment is, but many denominations have special garments for clergy.
The only Biblical passage about special clothing in the New Testament is the command not to have it....Matthew 23:5 "But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments. 6 They love the best places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, ..... 9 Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven."

Catholic PRIESTS (and clerics of most other Christian denominations) wear certain kinds of vestments that are modeled after ancient roman attire (the alb, dalmatic, cinsure cope, scapula, mitre, and several other pieces of clothing with exotic names). Every part of the costume has a symbolic spiritual meaning that acts as contemplative device for the wearer about Christ and about the wearers role as as servant of Christ. It has nothing to do with some interpreted Biblical injunction (used here in this response string apparently to inanely bash Catholics).
And they are called "fathers" as a sign of respect, like physicians are called "doctors" and teachers are called "professors."

Why are you (I assume) wearing shirt, trousers, socks and shoes, instead of a robe and cloak and sandals? Where is your garb in the Bible? Guess I'm in real trouble for wearing jeans and a sweatshirt ... and no veil.
Seriously. There are customs of dress among clergy in many Christian denominations as well as other faiths. This is a non-issue.

They wear the collar so you will know they are a Priest in public if you want to pull them over and talk to them, during mass there is different attire.
Also they are trying to avoid being called "Father" now, I know it took long enough, but even they know that no one but God the Father is to be called Father.
Times are changing, so please call them Priests, Pastors or Reverends. They are trying to make the effort to change, but some people won't let that happen by continuing to either call them "father" or people saying that's what they still call themselves.
Please be respectful.

There is a lot said about what the Jewish priests were to wear. What difference does it make. Do you want everyone to wear a uniform or something?

It is found with the unsaved Pharisees.
Catholics are not saved and are not Christians. Catholics believe a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell (Galatians 1).
Bible teachers that said the Vatican and the catholic cult are an antichrist: John Bunyan, John Huss, John Wycliffe, John Calvin, William Tyndale, John Knox, Thomas Bacon, John Wesley, Charles Spurgeon, Samuel Cooper, John Cotton, and Jonathan Edwards
