I'm fairly skinny, but I have a pretty nice (real) 6-pack. However I've been told several times that I have it just because I'm skinny, but I know this can't be completely true, because I know several skinny people who don't have abs....

Can anyone shed some light on this issue?

PS I DID work for it, it's not like I woke up one day and Lo and behold there it was...

Thanks!

Yes, even people who don't work out have ab muscles under their fat. So, if someone naturally has low body fat, you'll see those ab muscles. They won't be as ripped as someone who works out, but having a 6 pack is more about low body fat than big muscles.

Okay let's get things clear. I know guys that are skinny and don't have abs and I know skinny guys that do. That reason is because skinny guys in general have low body fat and high metabolism. So if a skinny guy works out his abdominal muscle he will eventually get a six pack. To get a Six pack you need to get rid of the excuses belly fat.

No, being skinny doesn't automatically give you abs. It's low body fat and well toned muscles that gives you abs and not all skinny people have have low body fat and toned muscles . Sometimes people are just skinny because they have a small build or have little muscle tone.

skinny people have less layers to work off. I can do 80 lbs on the ab machine i wiegh 210 lbs with a flabby belly. My Friend does half the wieght and is 150 lbs. he has a 6 pack i don't.
bigger people simply have more junk in the way of those abbs.

You cant just have a 6-pack out of know where, all skinny guys i know usually dont have six packs, and if they do its because they exercised for it. I think you have a six-pack not because your skinny, but because you worked for it.

being skinny is not the same as being lean and most skinny guys and people in general are not lean. lean being the state where your body fat is well below average levels. people that are lean have muscle definition like 6 packs. people that are not lean do not, as subcutaneous fat covers the true shape of skeletal muscle.

Do skinny people win fun runs just because they're skinny? Or do black people make it to the NBA simply because of their skin color? That's crazy! Defined abdominals are muscles. Built and defined muscles are a result of being worked. Tell these people they are lazy and need not use excuses for your hard work.
