The fact that 11 of the 18 wildfire victims lying in UCSD Medical Center's burn unit are illegal immigrants with no apparent health coverage highlights the daunting financial challenge hospitals face in providing long-term, intensive care for all those who need it...

...According to the Mexican Consulate in San Diego, the burn victims are from central and southern Mexico, and include one woman. Four are in critical condition. All were rescued north of Tecate last week, said consulate spokesman Alberto Lozano, and it is suspected they had crossed the border illegally before coming face to face with the Harris fire.

Meanwhile, medicare and other private insurance companies have to help foot the bills for these people, even the ones already here illegally in the US. The Mexican Gov has yet to respond for the help asked to foot the bill for these burn victims.

This make me boiling mad. Our laws need to be enforced and some changed as well.

It really pisses me off, they will walk out Scott free form any financial responsibility, If it was American citizens in Mexico they would still be waiting out side their hospital for treatment, no money no care that's their motto, and yet we are expected to pay for their treatment which will amount to about 500 thousand each, their own people wouldn't care for them unless they had money they would be left to die. The Mexican government knows what they are doing they send them north so they won't have to bother with their poor, and stupid Bush is giving Mexico Billions this year to fight the drug war, which most of the money goes into their pockets. Those Illegals should be bandaged up and sent home for care. An American from San Diego died a few years ago in Mexico because he did not have 10,000 dollars up front, and they would not let him out of the hospital until they got their money, for the little care that they did give him, so he died. It was on the news, but their was no great out cry about it, that only happens if it is Mexicans in the U.S. that don't get care. I am sick of the American citizens standing by and letting this happen, we are being destroyed.

Well it is evident that they did'nt bring bags of money with them to pay for medical care...So Americans nurse them back to health. And they will problably get to stay here - work and play and move more family here. Without going thru the proper channels. Its a fact that we do have a better medical system than Mexico; Why else would Our hospitals be over run and close due to helping those who illegally immigrate.

They are closing King Harbor hospital, a county hospital serving some of the poorer areas in California. There is an article in the paper today about an American man who went to a Sylmar county hospital emergency room with chest pains, wasn't looked at for 3 hours because they were too busy, and died outside the waiting room.

THEIR people are not our only medical concern.

Actually, the person who started the fire would be held liable for the costs incurred by the fire, including the costs of healthcare for people burned.

I don't like when people get killed. But according to alot of dems and Hillary, our health care system is flawed and needs to be overhauled. If that's so, why are the injured not sent to Canada? They have healthcare for all. I'm sure they'd be cared for alot better up there, right?
