My first child did not co-operate, but I wanted to know. My 2nd child we were told was a boy. My 3rd child I wanted to know, but the doctor told me "If I was a betting man I'd say it's a girl." He told my friend that a year earlier and her son is definitly male. My 4th child we didn't want to know, because we just really wanted a surpirse. My 5th child we found out, because my daughter had to know if she was ever gonna have a sister, she wasn't.

I am all for knowing. Right now I am pregnant (31 weeks) and we have no clue what we are having. I really really wanted to know but my husband didn't. He said that it would be more fun as a suprise. So throughout the whole pregnancy I have been reduced to refferring to my baby as "baby" or "it". Not fun. Plus, we when we registered for our baby shower it was so hard to pick stuff out because you have to pick out neutral colors, and I'm sorry but I don't want my child to be wearing green and yellow all the time! As far as the nursery goes, I tried to find something neutral as well, that included ALL the colors. I went with a teal type color that seems to look like it will work for either gender. I just think that this whole process would have been a whole lot easier if we would have just found out what we are having!
We did make a comprimise though. Any children after this one, we are going to find out!

I didn't ever want to know because there are so few real surprises in life!
Here is what we had and when our last child was born, it was so much fun seeing the look on my husband's face! He was always happy of course, but it was Priceless and it wouldn't have been the same if we knew what was coming!
Baby #1 = Girl
Baby #2 = Girl
Baby #3 = Girl
Baby #4 = BOY

I say use the technology that is available. My daughter had it done, and the first one said it was a girl, and then later on, she had another ultra sound and then they said it was a boy. Which it was. So even if you have it done, it is not 100% sure thing until you are fairly far along.
They wanted to know, so that they could prepare the room, and start getting clothes for the right gender. (If that matters anymore, at that age.)
good luck when you do have a child.

Every woman I think has a guess. But mine was not correct! My sister had 3 girls and REALLY wanted a boy, so she researched the Chinese calendar for whats times of the month to have sex to have a boy or girl. Call it what you will but she stuck to the calender and now it having a boy! If you choose not to know... do the room in colors that would work for both a boy or girl... a friend on mine does not want to find out and be old fashioned so she picked earth tones and a deep chocolate for bedding. VERY CUTE!

With my fisrt 2 I found out and the ultrasound was correct. With my current pregnancy I am not going to find out but I have made up my mind that is a girl. :) It'll just be that much more surprising if it's a boy. Tehe. We'll see in May whe baby arrives.

I found out with my first child, and I choose not to with this pregnancy *not that it mattered because this baby would not cooperate with the tech.
Yeah I know when you find out at the ultrasound it is still a surprise. But sometimes it is nice to just wait and be surprise on "d-day"

awwwwwwwwwwwwww....i have to know.
I dont get how my mom did it. Not knowing on all 4 babies...ugh..they didn't have the technology when she had babies that we do now.
I just am a planning freak and have the nesting thing real bad right now and I am dying to decorate and tell everyone the sex.
ahahhhhahahhaha.....i can't wait. I have to know. I just have to.
However, I do respect those who have the patience to wait it out. What a surprise!

My husband and I both wanted to know. For one we didn't want to wait, we wanted to know right away. Two to make it easier to plan.
My best friend didn't find out what she is having and she said that you can't beat the "Its a boy or "Its a girl" when he/she comes out. She said it makes all the labor worth it. On the other hand she said that her little boy was wearing all green and yellow until he was about 6 months old.
Hope this helps!
