the MTR system mostly runs underground with a few stations above ground. when crossing between HK island and Kowloon (and vice versa), it goes under the Victoria Harbour (Tsim Sha Tsui to Admiralty; Tiu Keng Leng to Quarry Bay). when going from Tsing Yi stn to Tung Chung stn, you'll be travelling on the Tsing Ma Bridge, so you're over the water. the MTR is fast, clean & efficient - although it can be expensive if travelling far but you avoid the traffic jams/lights. also, try to avoid it during rush hours from mon-fri (8:30am-9:30am; 5:30pm-7pm) - it's truly the "sardine in a can" experience!!!

it really is one of the world's best transport system.

Part of the system goes in tunnels under Victoria Harbour, which is the narrow stretch of water between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon to the north.
The MRT is a very modern, fast and quite cheap way to travel around Hong Kong, and it goes to many of the main attractions of this wonderful place.
