they would want us to protest at one of their funerals if one of them was to be sent to war an died? Or if one of them turned out to be gay?

How come some christians tend to agree more with the Phelps view on how being gay is a sin, but less agree with the Phelps about how killing is also just as bad a sin (the war)?

Let me catch that guy in a dark alley, if they ever show up around Boston I would drag him to death behind my BMW down the MASS pike, and everyone would cheer.

Why wait for those things to happen, we should just protest when any of them die even if not gay or in the war!
Sorry, but their protests at funerals is totally uncalled for and extremely cruel to the mourners.
Edit:
Golden rule? Not in this case, but we could pass off protesting at their funerals as "Tuff Love".
Edit 2:
Christianity is not against all killing, war is generally accepted as a necessary evil. Of course, different groups and individuals will have different ideas.

Firstly, the closest that the 10 commandments comes to the question of sexual orientation is Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Since theirs is a jealous god and wants lots of little followers, all men should marry, have and have lots of children. Laying with a man as you would a woman does not make babies and is adultery against the wife you should be having babies with.
Commandments are overly simplified (like for children) to reach the masses.
Thou shalt not kill actually translates to "A Hebrew shall not kill an innocent Hebrew or there will be a trial.

I have a feeling that Fred Phelps is a closet homosexual. He protests a bit too much and it seems suspicious; no reasonable person reading the Bible would think that God wants us to picket funerals.
Maybe he and Senator Larry Craig should hook up. They seem to have a few things in common.

That man and his church give Christians a bad name. I sometimes wish the Earth would open up and swallow them. Jesus said that we would know Christians by their fruit. From what I can see their fruit is rotten. They are not Christians.

No one agrees with that idiot. Phelps isn't a Christian. He is a traitor to his faith and his country.
