I've gotten my free reports for the last few years from annualcreditreport.com.
AnnualCreditReport.com is the only government approved site to receive your free reports; No credit card or registration for credit monitoring services required.
Don't be paranoid, the ACR's site is secured. Even though they ask for your social security number, your ssn is encrypted and you can opt to show only the last 4-digits of your ssn when viewing or printing your reports.

As everyone else has stated here, annualcreditreports is the only one recognized and approved by the FTC. Here is some info regarding this and what to look out for when you request a report:
www.annualcreditreport.com is the only authorized online source for your free annual credit report from the three nationwide consumer reporting companies. Neither the website nor the companies will call you first to ask for personal information or send you an email asking for personal information. If you get a phone call or an email — or see a pop-up ad — claiming it's from www.annualcreditreport.com (or any of the three nationwide consumer reporting companies), it's probably a scam. Don't reply or click on any link in the message. Instead, forward any email that claims to be from www.annualcreditreport.com (or any of the three consumer reporting companies) to spam@uce.gov, the FTC's database of deceptive spam.
Getting ones report every year is a good thing, it protects you from identity theft and it let's you know where you stand.

I've done it on yourfreecreditreport.com also, but I've paid a small fee of 7.95 to get my credit score also. The report is from the 3 credit bureaus, and a year later if you still have the same email address, they let you know that you're eligible for another free report. Of course, they want to sell you the credit score and monitoring your credit on a monthly basis for a 19.99 fee. It is entirely up to you if you want to do this, but the basic reports are free.

I've done it every year since it was allowed and never had a problem. Just make sure you go to the correct site, which is www.annualcreditreport.com. If you are uncomfortable doing it online, you can also request that your credit reports be mailed to you instead using this site. Good luck!

the only truly free credit report can be found at
http://www.AnnualCreditReport.com
You don't need to sign up for anything or give any billing information. This doesnt give you your score--just each of the reports 1 time per year

I have. It works out ok.
BUT make sure you have the right E-MAIL address--other wise all these companies pop up offering you free reports but with conditions.
The proper site requires no money or sign up for service requirements.
You can get one free each year from each ot the three companies.

The only site you should go to is http://www.annualcreditreport.com. It is very secure and you will not have any problems with it.
I've done it many times, and helped lots of others do it. Just remember that before you go to the site, info on your mortgage and car loans, as they will ask you some information that will require you to verify.
