Hey Doc, from a religious perspective one could make a strong argument that creation scientists are neo-luddites. Refuting peer reviewed science based on non confirmable beliefs.

i think, from a religious perspective, that neo-luddism is like an ASBO for the pope, demineing his right to free speech, neo-luddism is a way of expressing the anti communlistic dictatorship in which we, as humans exist....& with out skunk & special brew would be impossiable.... lots of love David Cameron,, MP (OF SORTS)

It is silly. Technology is the tool that has allowed civilizations to flourish. While it can be misused certainly but then again, anything can be misused - even knowledge.

My faith encourages one to live a quiet and simple life free of materialism. It does not say I have to shun technology.

However, I do take that stance when it comes to being accessible via a cell phone or email all the time. Only because corporations abuse communications to squeeze more work out of their salaried workers and not compensate them for it. heh sorry - just a rant.

Is there anything nice one can say about it?

Our societies are better off than they ever were, and less satisfied than ever.

Our medicine enables us to live at least four times longer than we have ever done throughout history - and the public latch onto any ancient pseudo-scientific claptrap 'remedy' that comes along, and hankers for the 'good old days' of pure, natural food and smallpox.

Our technology is spectacular, and frees us from all manner of manual burden - and people whine about all the nasty machines.

The origin of life, Man and the universe is better understood than ever before - and people cleave to millennia-old magical nonsense instead.

I'm rooting for the next planet-killer asteroid.

Presume you are referring to modern Luddites. The original ones had a point, you know. Sometimes we ought to 'make haste slowly'

I was wondering how the term luddite would go down regarding creationism.
