it does after the drugs wear off. then you knee feels like it wieghs a ton when you walk.

If you need the surgery, you most likely are already having pain in your knee. You will have some pain after surgery (during the surgery itself you will either be asleep or totally numbed) but after you heal, you will be able to use the knee without pain!

The old saying "no pain- no gain" fits here!

No. It doesn't hurt. They use anesthesia during the operation.
Even after the operation, my wife reported that she was walking the next day. If you are young, healthy and use your legs a lot, the healing tends to be faster and more painless.
If the hospital has a skillful physical therapy department, that would improve your experience even further.

Yes. But the people that have it done are usually very happy with the results.
They can now walk around with out pain.

perhaps it hurts alot but it's nothing compared to lung surgery.
