Im 30yrs old and have wanted to become a police officer for the longest time. Now I'm worried that my past may stop be for doing what i really want to do. I have had a DUI and Minor Possession of marijuana in the past.. Is it still an option for me or should i just forget about it?

My DUI was 5 years ago and my possession was 3yrs ago and it was under a gram.

The DUI and pot make it sketchy, but call your local PD and inquire.

THE DUI IS A NORMAL SOCIETY PROBLEM.

THE POSSESSION IS COMMON BUT FROWNED UPON. DEPENDING ON AMOUNT OF POSSESSION AT TIME.

MOST DEPARTMENTS LOOK UPON, THAT WAS THEN, ARE YOU CLEAN NOW AND CAN YOU STAY CLEAN AS A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER.

EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES. IT THOSE WHO NEVER LEARNED FROM THEIR ERR THAT WE WORRY ABOUT. PRISONS AND JAILS FULL OF THEM.

SOUNDS LIKE IT MIGHT BE TIME TO APPLY BEFORE YOU HIT THE 39 AGE LIMIT (20 YEAR TO RETIRE BY AGE 60)
GOOD LUCK

I think you can still get into the Navy, and be a cop.

No thanks, I've already been one. I prefer a legal life.
