Say if you murdered people for about 2 yrs but you had a mental illness and did not go to jail. You come out of a mental institution and feel guilt but do not pray and somebody recognises you and batters you to death.

Would God consider you 'forgiven'.?

Assuming the person began to ask God for forgiveness during the beating, it's possible. There are times when I'm mad at my friend and, then, 2 hours later or less I've forgiven him/her. God, being a living God, has the ability to change His mind about judgment. The only things unforgivable are sins against the Holy Ghost, such as blasphemy, outright rejection of God or His Trinity, and teaching others to sin.

An unforgivable sin isn't "unforgivable" in that it can't be forgiven. It's just that God won't forgive you for it. As far as I know, the only sin that is actually unforgivable is denying God once you truly know him. Lucifer and a third of the hosts of heaven and stuff...
Belief in Christ isn't what saves you. Being repentant isn't what saves you. God is what saves you. Only He decides who gets into heaven and who goes to hell. So if he feels that you did the best you could, who knows, he may accept you into heaven if you've murdered 100 people and never set foot in a church. There might have been a plan God had in place, you just don't know. I know people aren't going to like my answer, but it does say "Indeed, salvation is by grace, not meritorious works" - Ti 3:3-7

If you confess your sins and repent, you will be forgiven by God. Man does not follow the same rules as God, therefore, someone may not forgive you. You would be forgiven. If you had a mental illness, God may not consider your actions sins, based on the fact that you were incapacitated. Only God knows for sure what He thinks.

No sin is unforgiveable EXCEPT for blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. That is the ONLY sin that God will not forgive. It's in Matthew and in 1 or 2 John. God will forgive any sin but that. A murderer He will forgive. One has to repent of their sins to God and ask for forgiveness and turn to Jesus Christ for salvation - that is the ONLY way to get to heaven.

To the person above that said Jeffrey Dahmer's chances of being in heaven are high: if he did not repent of his sins and turn to Christ for salvation, then he's NOT in heaven. The likelihood that he's in heaven is very slim, but only God knows for sure.

God has given to each man, the measure of faith. If you can feel guilt (which is contrition or regret) you have the ability to perceive right and wrong. God gives you this ability to know...and to not ask forgiveness (no matter how crazy you may seem to the world) is an act of your Will to deny God.

If someone batters you, that is not 'God's justice'. That is man's justice. Where you spend eternity is the payment for the choice you made to deny God.

If that person repents though...even after killing people like Jeff Dahmer....if they repent sincerely and accept Christ- God forgives them. He does.

Murder is not unforgiveable. Many murderers have gone to heaven... Remember King David? He was a murderer. People will hate me for saying this, but the likelihood of Jeffrey Dahmer being in heaven is very high.

Robbers can go to heaven. Jesus told the robber on the cross next to him, "I tell you the truth. Today you will be with me in paradise." This is because the robber simply had faith that Jesus is the Messiah and that God is His father.

in order to get to heaven, you must
1. believe and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior
2. ask for forgiveness

If that person you were talking about did not do those things then he would be in hell right now.

NO sin is unforgivable to Jesus!
to a human yes but not to Jesus!
hope that helped

The only way to go to heaven is to believe that Jesus, who is God, died for your sins on the cross and rose again. If you believe that, then the murders and all sins you've done are forgiven and you won't go to eternal hell, but you will go to heaven. If you don't believe that, then nothing is forgiven, even if you didn't do the murders, you'll still go to eternal hell.

i think God would forgive the guy. because He's so forgiving. its his coolest trait. i dont know exactly but i read it somewhere in the muslim book, the koran that God forgives a person if he/she merely asks Him with a pure heart and promises never to do it again. God cares not about our little mistakes. He has the universe to run....
