I am against them!
Don't confuse the Westboro Church with a Church. I support the TRUTH. Please do not give these people the time of day.
I commend all Americans who are trying to learn more about the candidates before the 2008 election. In my opinion, a uniformed voter is down right dangerous. I am supporting the Republican Ticket for their stance on Foreign Policy. I do not believe that the ticket will lead with Rudy, Mitt or Ron Paul and this is why….
Strike Rudy - He is responsible for nixing the Line Item Veto, pro-abortion, he spends too much! Check his record!
Strike Mitt - He is trying to sell us on the fact that he is Ronald Reagan's Clone which is so not-true. Blames his MA record on him having to work in a Liberal State, He is a FRAUD and McCain called him on it in the 10/21/07 debate!
Strike Ron Paul – He is not savvy on Foreign Policy.
The following website will provide you with party information, candidate detailed information as well as voting records, public statements and pretty much anything you need to help YOU decide!
It will also show you information about the State Primary Dates, How the Primary Process works, Electoral College, and other internet resources.

I would argue only other Christians can do anything about this type of extremist group. Some Christian groups have been so successful at concocting the notion that there is a 'war on religion' in the US that groups like this are aided by those less extreme but who are nonetheless insisting that they're being 'oppressed'.
The greatest ally these people have are not the people who think like them. It's the people who almost think like them and yet say nothing. Every extremist wraps themselves in the rhetoric of the less extreme but sympathetic.
===
The question of course to those who claim to be Christian and don't support what they do, what will you do now?
===
"did u guys see my additional details?"
Yes I'm sure most people saw it yesterday when it was posted at least 20-30 times.

The 11 mil they lost will make them think they're martyrs of Christiandom, attacked by the "evil fag loving" America. Ain't good enough.
I'm not exactly fond of the Catholic church, but I just saw an advantage for them... if a Catholic church pulled this sort of idiocy, then the Catholics would renounce them, stripping them off all their status.
A shame, though, that as long as you hold the Bible as your source of info, you can call yourself "Christian" whether or not you follow Christ's principles. There is generally a lot of tolerance within Christianity for other offshoots of Christianity. In general.
This, though, brings it to cult level. They've ignored and utterly defied the words, examples, (Jesus) and commandments written in stone by the one they call God, instead to look at passing passages written by people who are inspired by God (which I'd think is a step down from above). I may not be Christian, and may even not like them very much, in general... but I am familiar with the faith, and this... this is not it. This is disgusting.
Quite honestly, I feel sorry for Christianity, for it being defiled by such vile creatures.

I don't know of any organized Christian movement taking a stand against Phelps et al. But, maybe there ought to be such a movement. I do not believe he represents Christian principles, and I think most Christians are repulsed by the Westboro Baptist Church and its followers [as am I]. The issue is even larger than the Christian community - I'd like to see AMERICANS take a stand against this guy. Regardless of religious or political stance, their actions are outrageous!!!
Side note: I honestly think that stuff like this is more what constitutes "using God's name in vain". Using the name of God to advance an agenda like theirs is wrong. I think swearing and saying G.D. etc is a very minor example of using God's name in vain. I think Westboro, Phelps, and others like them are a MAJOR example of using God's name in vain.

edit:
I believe the mainline Baptist conventions have denounced the Westboro Baptist Church.

Oh I would definately confront them on their ways!
I will take a stand against them in how they are being WRONG examples for Christ....And how God needs us who are His to be loving towards others-- not judgmental, BUT also in honesty, not sugar coating anything.....however they have completely gone the wrong way in trying to get the truth out and yes I am very sickened by the way they go about with this anger.
GOD is the one who will extend His righteous anger come judgment day--- WE who love the Lord need to be showing others that sin is wrong in God's eyes, but by doing this with care. Not with hate. BIG difference....hearts should be reaching out to others, not yelling at others.
(speaking about the westboro baptist sign holder)
btw your added comments, that picture of that woman holding a protest sign against God--- that is sad. She is being blasphemous towards God which is much worse.
That is not going to help or solve anything....for her sake it is going to make matters worse- I just hope and pray the Lord will open her eyes to His truth and that someone can show her the LOVE of Christ where she lives. She has been brainwashed into thinking what she is doing is "right" when it is actually wrong...it is only leading people away from Christ.

I would think that any Christian would take a stand against a group of that kind. They are using Gods name for evil purpose, spreading hate, inciting violence. This group is right in the same category as the KKK and needs to be brought down.

Hate is not a value of any "true" religion. Only extremist groups. I am Wiccan and I ask that no one judge Christians based on this group of misdirected people.

Anyone with a sense of decency should stand against the Westboro Baptists and their spiteful tactics. ESPECIALLY those who call themselves any other kind of Baptists.

While I agree they have the right to express their beliefs--I do not think that protesting at a solders funeral is appropriate. I do not agree with their logic.
