here, if it is an emergency call, the 911 dispatcher will dispatch the closest station to the call.. if there is more than one truck at the station, they rotate calls, if it is a mass casualty, then more trucks will be called and they will call for mutual aid from the private service or other counties... private services do mostly transport, and the people working on the shift will rotate calls also....

An ambulance company is required, by law, to pick up any calls for help. Unless they aren't registered or licensed by the state and then they can't pick up emergency calls. They are just a transport unit that takes people to and from different places. But an emergency unit has to take the call and send whatever available unit to the distress call.
