iam thinking of getting this 1999 toyota solara sle for $5000, from a private party he wanted more but we nagociated to $5000. The car still has 18 months of warenty left on it, it also has 117,000 miles, quiet a bit but for a toyota i think its nothing. 98% tire left, its even got rims not too big tho, black leather seats this and that. it runs like a charm, i test drove it the day before yesturday and its like super quiet, i opened up the hood and the engine is soooo clean, he showed me a recipt from a toyota express lube and tune up, the oil has been changed almost every 5,000 miles, and he just changed the timing belt about 2 years ago at 80,000 miles. It got tinted windows, the only down side is the blemeshes it has on a rear bumper from backing up into things, I love it, do you think $5000 is worth for a '99 toyota that has 117,000 miles

First the car has no warranty left it has been miled out. To the idiot who says that he would buy it himself. I would have the car thoroughly inspected and then I would still hesitate. For ten year old car you are paying a lot of money. Make sure it is safe and sound. Toyota is no better than G.M. when building a car anymore.Just check the recalls and amount of service work being done. They are living off of the perception that they build a Superior product when there product isn't any better than anyone elses. As far as comparing that particular model to a cavalier not even close I could see comparing it to a Monte Carlo. That would make much more sense. I figure he is just another domestic basher that always compares apples to oranges and never compares apples to apples. Good Luck personally I would not buy the car. Too many cars I can buy for a little more money with a lot less miles.

Careful when buying a used car especially from ads like that. Audi's don't usually last that long and i wouldn't trust one with 90,000 miles on it. The second one doesn't seem like the best deal either. There is no mileage listed and the car is almost 20 years old. I would test drive it and get the owners word that there are no current problems with it. Those ads are often tricky.

That's a good deal because the warranty alone would cost $1500.

Apparently, there are too many redneck tards here who are clueless about the used car market.

A 1999 domestic with 100k miles would be a PIECE OF CRAP. A 1999 Toyota with 100k miles would be just breaking in. They can go 300k miles without a problem. While a domestic would be at the end of its life.

It's worth between $7k and $8k according to Kelly Blue Book. Ignore the nutjob that says it's worth less than $1,000. That might be the case for a Cavalier of that vintage, but NOT a Toyota! With proper care it will easily last for 250,000 to 300,000 miles.

I'd buy it for that price in a heartbeat!

Go to Kelley blue book and get the normal price for one. It will give you trade in value, retail and private seller prices. 5 k sounds a little high to me. Edit: I just booked it. In our area it is worth $6,250 in my area. Surprised me.

Wow, most of these answers are from knuckleheads who know nothing about cars. Buy it. It's a great deal on a great car. The people who said not to buy it are out fixing their chevy's, fords and chryslers right now.

Besides getting the blue book price, I would type it in on Ebay to search for to see if there is anything compareable.

you should not pay over $1500 on that....they are trying to get what is listed as trade in value ... but it is a total scam they just bump up the price of the car you trade it in on...

you can find a much better car at a fraction of that price ...
someone mentioned a caviler... it would be a better choice they look better, have more power and run longer
