Alcohol makes you gain weight, it converts to sugar in your body! There is about 140 calories in a glass of wine. About 100 in light beer. If you're drinking mixed drinks, forget it, those are loaded with calories. Upwards of 300 each.

If you're eating right, you may not gain any weight, but you'll definitely not lose any.

Cut the drinking down to 2 nights, or less drinks per night. Some places serve light alcohol, and if you mix it with diet soda, it wouldn't be that bad.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Yes, I've lost about 20 pounds in 2 months on The McDougall Program which is basically a vegetarian high-carb, low-fat eating plan. I can eat as much as I want so I don't have to starve. And I have higher energy. The program says alcohol is allowed but that too much will slow down weight loss. I've had great results and I drink wine or vodka almost every day. Check out their website: http://www.drmcdougall.com/

You could loose weight if you changed your diet but still had a few drinks. The rate of weight loss would be slower.
Maybe thats no bad thing because you're trying to find a diet that keeps you thinner and that you can live with.

a glass of wine is ok but a margarita is not..frozen drinks have ridiculous amounts of calories in them...(think around 580 give or take depending whats in it) so a few of those and theres ur entire caloric intake for a day!! the more sugar thats in them the more likely it is that it will slow ur metabolism and pack on the pounds. even diet soda isnt a "safe" mixer...stick with wine and keep it in moderation. good luck with the weight loss

You don’t need to exercise for hours on end. Short, sharp sets of exercise will produce better results if you work hard. Get a bypassing rope, skip for two min's, do push ups for about a minute, skip for two minutes, rest for example minute. Then change the push approximately something else like sit ups as well as do the set again. Repeat it five times and it’s a fast, effective workout that will get better results than a long manage or swim.

Your body burns the alcohol calories FIRST of all, i.e before the food you eat, so if you drink alcohol and then eat you need to burn enough calories (exercise enough) to use up the calories from both the alcohol and the food.

yes, you can still lose weight but it will be minimal at best. alcohol decreases testosterone production and the levels of circulating androgens which decreases the metabolic rate. it dehydrates the muscle cell, impeding the Krebs cycle and lipolysis. alcohol also effects the sleep cycles and decreases growth hormone output. gh being the most potent fat burning compound that the human body produces.

* there is simply nothing healthy about regular alcohol consumption

Only if you skip two meals a day. Alcohol has alot of calories. But when I used to drink I never hardly ate. I don't recommend you destroy your health, or your life with alcohol abuse.

Alcohol is one of the most worst things to drink when your trying to lose weight, You gain more weight, (my cousin tried this and miresably failed. She used to weigh 145 pounds, then when she started to drink it, she gained more than she wanted to). Excercizing and eating healthier is the best way to manage your weight. I hope this helps you out.
