Do it!! I'm wearing a dark red gown that has silver embroidery and beading. I love dark red, my fiance thinks that I look great in dark red, and red has cultural significance for us. My fiance is Indian, and red is often used in Indian weddings. We're having a non-traditional, multi-cultural wedding that includes aspects of both American and Indian culture, so the red dress is totally appropriate...and besides, if I wore white I would be the same color as the dress. not flattering! LOL!
Even if dark red didn't have that much cultural meaning, I would still probably wear a color other than white. I like white on other people, but I think I look much better in darker colors and i want to feel fabulous on my wedding day.
Wear whatever makes you feel great. Besides - I like the idea of doing something unique and not feeling like every other bride.
Go for it!

I've been to a wedding like that and it was so gorgeous!! And if u look good in the color I know it will come out nice. The wedding colors were like that dark red, gold and another lighter red color. The MOH wore the gold. The bridesmaid wore the lghter red w/ gold shoes. The Groom had on white w/ red underneath. And the bride's dress was the dark red and the top was a plain bustiere (spelling?) and the bottom skirt was this beautiful fabric it was the same red color but it had these gold flowers on it and the it flowed into a train. Her father who walked her down the aisle had on a suit with the same fabric that matched the bottom of her dress. It turns out that he had them. But it was so beautiful and probably b/c it was so unique and put together well. I could neva wear red on my wedding day but she pulled it off and I'm sure u can too. Good Luck and Congrats!!

Tell you fiance to worry about his tuxedo not your gown. If I were you I would buy an ivory gown, simple in design, not poofy, or too much beading. More a gown for a destination wedding type. Try houseofbrides.com and then go to informal wedding gowns on the left side of screen. Stunning gowns and they come in white and ivory. Check out MoriLee. You want to look classy and elegant and not like a "red apple" coming down the isle or a fairy godmother. Men don't know about weddings. Do not consult him...Use your own inner feelings and I detect that you are not quite sure that the dark red gown would be appropriate...and you know what? It is not appropriate and it is not classy at all. Go with ivory, no veil (a beautiful floral wreath) or your hair done up with beautiful crystals placed in your hair, a small bouquet (wrapped in ivory satin ribbon) and you will look like a million dollars. He could then wear a dark midnight blue suit if he prefers...but you..go with class.

Usually, beach wedding dresses are more draped and flowy instead of an elaborate ball gown with a train, like you've chosen. But if the actual wedding will be on a solid floor and the beach is just the background setting, then the dress is fabulous. The photographer will LOVE the red color and you will look amazing in the pictures. I think I'd have my bridesmaids dresses in baby pink--a fabulous and unusual combo with your gorgeous red dress!! : }

Do *you* want to wear a dark red gown? Most brides don't want anything that isn't white or ivory regardless of how many times they've been married. I would love to get married in a dark red gown since I don't like how white or ivory looks on me with my pasty skintone. But in the end it has to be your decision, not his.

If you genuinely like the idea of dark red, then go for it...but is it going to fit the general feel of your wedding? Is your wedding a goth themed event? Maybe a Christmas/holiday wedding? Then dark red would be perfect. But...if you are doing a spring/summer event, with bright colors...you will look very out of place in a deep burgundy/red shade.
Remember: You choose your wedding gown, he chooses his tux design...When it comes down to it, you need to make the decision.

If you want to wear it also, then by all means. Otherwise if you still want white, then wear a dark red sash or find a dress with dark red accents. It is a very common color scheme.

Yes, wear it! I wanted to wear a colored dress, but when I was in the dressing room, I overheard a mother say, "when are you ever going to wear a white gown?" She was right, so I did.
I think if I would ever marry-God forbid-again, I would wear a colored gown too.

White has nothing to do with whether its your first or second marriage. White is just gorgeous and there is no other time where you can wear white and when you walk in the room, all heads turn to see you. Dark red, or any other color for that matter, is not breathtaking. Also, the colored dresses usually just end up looking like theyre from the Disney Parade. They just dont do it for me.

Sounds like a good idea. I have a few gowns that I saw on a website where I was looking for my dress at. Hope this helps. Good Luck.
