There are no records. Slave traders didn't care diddly squat about the people they trafficked in, let alone recording their histories.
=========================
Added after I read the DNA page more carefully:
You'd need to buy both tests, for $278, if you are male, to get the full report - one test for your father's side, one for your mother's. If you are a lady, a brother or a first cousin who is the son of your father's brother would do for the male side.

Read Finding Oprah's roots.
Then try a DNA test. However, it has been noted that the company that analyzes the test might have a smaller sample of some groups than others and you could get different results. More than a few groups challenged the first DNA test analysis that she had.

Go as far back as you can by paper trail; that may give you some clues as to the tribe.
Then oppt for a DNA test. Besides www.familytree.dna, there are:
www.africanancestry.com
www.dnatribes.com and
www.dnaancestryproject.com
Africanancestry was in a featured article.
Good luck!
