That is why the bible is so popular. You can pick and choose whatever you want. There are rules for and against everything. So they are both right and wrong.

The Bible (the name is derived from the Greek word for library) is a fantastic collection of early writings and testimonials. It is an amazing piece of literature that contains a wealth of history and knowledge. No two religions seem to agree on exactly how the Bible should be interpreted. The Torah is considered to be written by God. It too can be interpreted many ways in the original Hebrew.

I am a Christian who sees the contradictions and follows the part I believe is right. It's hardly revolutionary. To me your criticism is like saying that people used to believe the Earth was the center of teh universe and now they don't so you continue to believe in science despite the fact that it contradicts itself.

The bible does not contradict itself. People just don't understand because their looking at it incorrectly. You can not take things out of context and try to make it fit what ever you want, It had an intentional meaning, in context. Lots of the NT is taken out of context and people try to make it fit modern beliefs, when it was written first of all Paul wrote letters to specific people about specific issues at their church. While things are taken out of context and people try to make them fit any and all citations. There is a specific intention and flow to each book that fits the story of salvation. You can not move it around and you can not look at it like artwork it is not subject to our felling s about the meaning it has a specific meaning that the writer intended. I am sure everyone who has taken college course has learned how to use Hermeneutics, if not maybe people should before reading it.

LOL, Ned is the consummate christian.
He knows it's contradictory and nothing more than childish mythology, yet he continues to believe.
Why? Out of fear. The fear of "what if"?
What if, there really is a magic sky pixie that will send me to hell if I'm not a good boy.
Of course, most of us realize that he is just imaginary, as is hell and we now reject the fairy tales and the brainwashing.

Normally, faulty products are abandoned. Or returned to sender.
I think the Bible's warranty expired a long time ago.

The Bible does not contradict itself. Anyone who says it does is not a true believer.
ledbetter...you really are out there. You cannot believe PART of the Bible. It is either the Word of God, or it is not the Word of God. It is like those who claim that Jesus was a good philosopher, but not the Son of God. That is impossible. He was either EXACTLY who He said He IS, or He was a complete nutcase. There is no in between. Sorry to say, you either believe that the Bible is the Word of God, or you do not Believe it. You cannot have it any other way, AND have faith. THAT is contradiction...The BIBLE IS NOT!
