We bought a 27" RCA Flat (tube) Television about 2-3 years ago. We had no problems with it until the other day. It got bumped into the wall from the tv stand and the picture automatically went "out" . All we can see now the blue screen. The t.v does work with the dvd player, so now all we can do is watch movies on it. We redid the cable cord thinking the cord went bad, but still no picture. We tested the cable cord on another t.v. and it worked. Does anyone know what could be wrong with this tv? Can it be fixed? Please help

It is not the input button, and the tv does not need to be on channel 3 because it's not hooked up through a cable box!!! I'm a girl, but not that mechanically stupid! My dad said the same thing as G.T Hildenbrand. Needs to be re-soldiered. Thanks G.T. you were a great help, now let's hope we can get this done!!!!!!

A bump would most likely damage at least the F connector into the TV, It sound like it almost fell over and slam may be a better description.
The fact that a DVD works means the cathode tube, power supply, and video sections are undamaged, it is the tuner section that has issue with maybe a damaged board, to replace not a big deal.
In the meantime use a DVD recorder (with tuner) or VCR hooked up to a set of av ins to bandage the problem until you can have it serviced, if it is a damaged board I would not use it much longer until fixed, as a damaged board can cause shorts and other internal issues.
If the set is not HD you may want to look at this as an opportunity to upgrade to a LCD or Plasma. These would look better have more inputs and be HD. Your repair will be at least $50 US so consider before doing anything.

Most likely some connection between the TV's antenna/cable input and the Tv's tuner was broken.
Usually this would not be very difficult for a technician to repair.
If the set is out of warranty, the question is whether it is worth the cost of repair.
While you are thinking about this, you can always find an old VCR and use its tuner. You just attach the cable coax to the VCR's antenna input and run video/audio cables to your TV.
All you need is the VCR's electronics, the tape part doesn't even need to be in working order.
It's a long shot but it wouldn't hurt to unplug the TV for a few hours and then turn it on and use the menu to make sure that the RF input is set to cable (or whatever it was set to before). Sometimes the little electronic brains in modern appliances get confused. It doesn't hurt to try resetting them. It's similar to giving a computer a cold boot.

It sounds like when it hit it jerked the antenna cable and may have broken off the wire that attaches to the antenna jack on the inside. If that is the case it should be no big deal to re-soldier it back into place. Since you can watch DVDs obviously the TV is operational, but the signal is not getting to the tuner. This is usually a fairly light lead that if not properly soldiered at the factory could break off fairly easily.

Check with your cable dude. I had the same problem, there was some little box in my attic attached to a bunch of wires and apparently it had died, so I quested out for the hardware store and bought a new one. I'm not sure what it's called, but another suggestion is, try plugging your cord for the cable into another port in your house. If this doesn't work, try plugging it into your DVD player and changing the inputs. I hope this helps

Sometimes these things just happen. I have found a couple of tv's that people throw out and 90% of the time it's because the user didn't know what the problem was.
Your here which is good so your part of the 10%
Some tv's have sound and no picture or vice versa. If you don't know what it could be then my honest recommendation to you would be...... Drive around your town and wait for someone to throw it out.
Then have a garage sale and sell the "broken" tv you have now to someone. Don't plug it in and tell them your not sure if it works and you are asking 10 bucks.
This way you get another TV and 10 Bucks!!
OR.....
Bring it to a repair place and pay 50 bucks just for them to look at it. but im pretty sure NOBODY on here can diagnose your pc without seeing it first
GOOD LUCK!!!

Since you "bumped it" and it's been over a year, the warranty may not be applicable. There is probably a loose connection inside, or it may be a simple switch from what mode the TV is in. (i.e., cable, VCR, DVD, PiP) You might try consulting the place you purchased it from and see if they have ideas.
Best I can do.
