Guys camp out on billboards for days to raise money for charity. It takes dicipline and endourance but it's not a sport... Neither is sitting in a car for 5 hours.

Someone reported me for this question. I appealed and won. Why would someone report this?

Why do people like you come to the Nascar section?

You must have a pretty boring day going if you have nothing better to do than ask this question. Why don't you go camp out on a billboard for 5 days and leave this section alone.

Why wouldn't NASCAR be considered a sport??
who cares if they are just sitting in a car. Horse racing is considered a sport and people are riding a horse.
Rodeo is considered a sport even, people ride bulls?

They might be sitting in a car for hours, but it is physically demanding. If you notice those guys are sweaty when they get out of those cars.

I do not care what anyone says, NASCAR is a sport and it's one of the most exciting sports there is.

Damn it, if I get a dollar for every time I hear this s**t!

Listen, you ignorant dumb***...NASCAR drivers lose 8 pounds of sweat per race on average. You heard me...8 f***** pounds of sweat. It is 130 degrees in that car. You need to be watchful the whole time, because that turn in front of you comes up fast. You also need to look out just in case the car in front of you spins out or slows down. If you're not paying attention then, you're screwed. That's that. Auto racing is a sport about as much as football, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, or whatever sport you like.

Not this question again! It's a competition, that's why it's called a sport. Horse racing is considered a sport, as is dog racing. Anything where people (or animals) compete against each other is a sport. Auto racing is no different.

I think it's a sport. But, why did you ask the question if you answered for yourself. I tell you what, go to the bathroom (shut the door), sit on the toilet with long johns (thermals) on and a space heater in front of you for 5 hours without moving or getting up. And tell me whether or not it's a sport. You really don't know what the heck your talking about.

This category is for Nascar Fans....not people who care nothing about Nascar....I'm sure there's a category out there just waiting for you...Nascar is a sport and a motorsport, and its much more than just sitting in a car for 3-4 hrs, you go try doing what they do...then come back and ask some real qustions..

I don't know, but I see all sorts of folks who said the same thing i said the last time someone asked this question--I got reported!! Is that fair?

Why are ignorant people that ask stupid questions so full of themselves that they think they are clever? People come in here everyday with this sort of crap and it merely makes them look more foolish than their intended target. Do you think that watching football and hockey instead of racing somehow makes you more enlightened? The arrogance you portray is unmerited and your attempt at a slam is weak. We don't care what YOU consider it to be and are fine with the fact that some people just don't get it.
