A friend of mine has "floaters" in his eyes and said when he went to the doctor and had his pupils dilated, the floaters greatly subsided. Is there anything you can buy at the pharmacy or wherever that would do the same?

no, and it would be dangerous to do so. dilated pupils can allow too much light into the eye and burn the retina, that is why only doctors have access to such drops, and only use them as necessary to be able to see into the eye. The floaters in your friend's eyes didn't subside, he just couldn't see them anymore in the increased amount of light in his eye.

No, there isn't. This temporarily solves your friend's problem but when he can't go outside anymore because he can't see in the light, he might want to find another alternative. If you have ever looked at your pupils with the lights on, they are small. If they are dilated, they will be huge which is only good for low light and dark situations. Only in the instance of becoming a vampire would this be okay. There are laser treatments available and some medications that might help. Tell your friend to speak with an opthalmologist. Also, go to eyefloaters.com to research the laser treatment.

Why? Does your friend want to go blind? When the pupils are dilated, it allows the sunlight and all the bad UV rays in to destroy the cells. Tell your friend to learn to live with the floaters. My sister does, and she has a lot of them.
