I am an 18yr old male and have been sick for a week and a half. I was diagnosed with mono w/enlarged spleen about 3 days ago. While the doctor said I will start to feel better in a week or so, he said the spleen can stay enlarged for up to 6 weeks. This weekend is the deer hunting opener, and while I am feeling better and up to hunting, I am wondering if it is safe to go hunting with an enlarged spleen. I'm not sure how the effects of riding an ATV or firing a gun could have on the chances of my spleen rupturing...Silly question, I know, but I really want to go!

Not a silly question at all. But I think since you have reservations about hunting especially riding the ATV, NO I would not chance it. You would be out in the woods. If something did happen would you be close enough to a hospital for help?
While you don't really need your spleen, a ruptured one could make you deathly sick, or worse.
Its not worth it. I think you answered your own question.

You must be very careful. A ruptured spleen can be life threatening, and the doctor's right, even if you feel better, your spleen is still enlarged and in danger of rupturing..

Unfortunately, you must continue to have near bed rest!! Despite how well you feel.. ANY serious physical exertion could rupture your spleen.

I'd say it is not wise. The jarring from the ATV might have an effect on your spleen, but if the mono virus is still in your system, you might just drop dead if weakend from the excursion.

Sometimes doctors actually know what they are talking about.

i advise you to put it on hold for a week or so
you feel the adventure yet in the damp chilled woods things wear off
if you do go i advise going with someone, if you have to lay down you can stretch out in the back of the ATV
dont use a shot gun--if you have pain dont continue --dont let yourself get caught up in the moment

yet ask your doctors office

either way read the gosple of John chapters 3&10 and pray cause we cant figure out totally ever what is best

Any activity that runs the risk of you injuring your side, where your spleen is, should be avoided. Check with your doctor though to be safe. Hope you feel better!

i could relatively upload 4 priests of Titania, and eliminate the Allosaurus Rider. upload some elves that draw enjoying cards, alongside with Gempalm Strider (draw or pump elves), coronary heart Warden, Masked Admirers or Multani's Acolyte. the place is Kamahl, Fist of Krosa? 4 5 mana you supply all your creatures +3/+3 and trample, and that's repeatable! in case you pass with Aluren/Recycle, throw in Biorythym and a fireball or 2, and upload some elves that upload purple mana. Throw in something like Crop Rotation, to get to the Gaea's Cradle or Wirewood inn. relish! and, btw, Steve is faulty. historical past Druid is an elf-druid.

well, if you want to risk rupturing your spleen and bleeding to death out there in the hills hunting, go for it. don't be silly, there will be another hunting season, there won't be another you. stay home, rest and get well. really you are old enough to figure this out for yourself...time to grow up and act responsibly.

i would talk to your doctor for a professional and medical opinion. however, you are crazy if you think that you can go and not feel worse afterwards. i'm sure part of you feeling better is that you've been resting, sleeping, taking medicine, etc. stay home, you're young, you'll have more chances to go hunting.

Stay home and rest. It is not worth the risk. The virus is still active in your body and the more rest you get the faster you will recover. There's always next year!!!

You must live in or near Minnesota, you obviously have Buck Fever! LOL!

I would say it's ok but take it slow. If you are like my sons and husband, nothing could stop you from hunting anyway.

Good Luck! Go get that thirty pointer...oh wait, no, you can't do that, my husband is hunting in Minnesota this week and he is going to get it.
