I guess I would go all the way back to Abram and Sari.

If they would have just had patience to wait upon the Lord for what was promised to them, a lot of bad stuff would have been avoided.

1) having your husband sleep with another woman (no matter who she is) is a bad thing, and no good will ever come from it.

2) When you finally do have a child, having him all grown up and still totally dependant on his mother so that when she dies, he is utterly useless depressed and cannot be comforted. So much so, that you have to send away for a wife for him.
When he sees Rebeccah, he is finally comforted, but then they go and raise their twin sons with so much favoratism, mommy loves jacob and daddy loves esau.
So disfunctional and yet so much like our world today that it seems as if it could be our next door neighbors.

Good thing that salvation is for all of us imperfect humans and not just for the "perfect" leaders.

Definitely Paul. If you are a Christian and read Paul's Letters to the Corinthians no matter what is going on in your life, there is a verse in there someplace that will bring meaning to you. I'm not saying that I am a constant bible reader, but on occasion, I do read it.

Actually it was hands down Mary of Magdala.

The problem is the patriarchal insecure men who compiled the bible tried to keep this a secret. They even cast her as a whore for centuries till the truth started coming out.

Lucky for us that some real scripture survived that tells us the true story.

Love and blessings Don

Elijah was cool. I am sort of partial to both King Solomon first, followed closely by Abraham.

Joseph, the dreamer. I've always loved his story of being outcast by his brothers and then rising to power in Egypt.
