Anything, Christianity included, can be destructive if used in the wrong way; and I would say that neither Santa nor the Easter Bunny is a harmless belief, especially if it persists into adolescence. A distinction should always be drawn between answers offered at a child's level when a child asks a question (storks and gooseberry bushes, anyone?) and genuine attempts to wrestle with adult questions in an adult way.
Christianity, it seems to me, is a costly answer: if it is true, then it was costly for Christ to initiate; and it is costly for believers, too, to stand up and say, "I believe."

False cults are destructive.
One of the proofs that Christianity is the real deal is the existence of false cults.
Real, Bible based Christianity is good. If its not Bible based, then its not the real deal.
Have you ever seen a counterfeit $15.00 Bill?
Why not?

PS: For those of you who are not from the USA, there is no real $15.00 bill. Only $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100. All larger bills have been withdrawn from circulation.

No, I believe that certain forms are destructive. But to declare the entire religion worthless is ridiculous, as is calling any religion completely worthless. I actually find Gnosticism and some elements of Catholicism to be highly intriguing...

Actually, Christianity as Jesus taught it is not destructive at all. It is the theologies developed by man and used over what Jesus taught that are desctructive.
So you are partially correct in your first statement.

I wouldn't say that we need to get rid of Christianity so much as I'd say that I'd like to see humanity progress to a point where we don't need it anymore. I'd like to see us come to a point where the potentials of life itself are purpose enough without needing an afterlife to justify its struggles.
*sigh* I'd to see us as we could be, without Christianity or any other religion to save us from feelings of inanity, confusion and obscurity.
I hope, but I know I'll never see that day. For now, if we can keep religion from imposing itself on those that don't want or need it, I'll be happy. Even that, though, is a distant hope.

I don't think Christianity is destructive: compared to the other religions of the world...I haven't seen any suicide bombing or attacks in the name of Jesus...

I think all religions are OK....if it gives you something to believe in and count on.
Religion is bad when people use it to promote their own selfish agendas.

Christianity is dangerous. Anything which is based on "faith" without question (and it is) and dictates how one should live their life retards the mind and begets ignorance. Despite what anyone will tell you, more people have killed in the name of christ than in the name of allah, communism and nazism combined.
