Ive just bought a 37 inch Samsung LCD TV from Comet, i have noticed that one lcd pixel is always darker than the rest, it is at the top left hand side of the screen. It is now passed the 28 day period. After taking it back on the 33rd day after purchase, the store said i carn't take it back because their allowed to have defective lcd pixels. Now they are sending an engineer out to have a look at it. Obviously im not happy after paying around £700 for this TV. Can i ask for my money back ?, or a complete swap? Any advice would be grately appriciated.

All they will do is repair it after the 28 day period. Pixels fall out it is a regular occurance for LCD TV's a slight knock to the TV can cause this. All Comet have to do is repair the TV. Maybe check out compnaies policies before purchasing in the future.

I would seek advice from Trading Standards regarding your rights. What is the 28 day rule?.
With regards to the actual fault, I have recently bought a new TV and whilst deliberating on which one to buy, I read that many manufacturers don't consider a defective pixel to be a fault. I don't agree and I'm sure nobody else on these pages does either.
I'd push for a refund, good luck.

Unfortunately, Comet, Samsung and Trading Standards will not consider your television 'faulty'.

This is due to an agreement that an LCD television is only 'faulty' when there are at least 5 dead pixels visible. Yours only has 1.

This is a common problem with LCDs and one of many reasons why I bought a plasma television...

.There should be more than just a 28 day guarantee period for this faulty TV. Comet should be aware of this - as long as you have your receipt you can ask for a replacement or your money back as the TV is obviously not fit for the purpose you bought it for.

Ask for details of Comet head office or contact Samsung directly - making them aware of the resistance to provide Customer Support being given to you by Comet.

Next time you wish to buy from Comet, have a look at price grabbers web site.
I have just bought a 50 inch LG from Digital Direct , which I got from that web site , for £750 that is £1300 at Comet.
It works a treat and saved me £550 on Comet prices.

Your legal rights entitle you to a repair, exchange or refund but a company only has to offer you one of these options legally.
Comet have a repair policy, they are not breaking any laws.
Trading standards will tell you the same thing and Samsung will just refer you back to the selling store.
