It used to be that years ago holy days were made to be days off from catholic school so that kids will be able to go to Mass for that day. This day and age the schools are realizing that these kids are not doing that anymore so are deciding to bring back these days as part of school. All Saints Day, The Assumption.. are examples of these days.

Of course parents and kids are complaining that they want or need the days off. Do you think they should remain closed for school or have them back to school as the kids don't use them for Mass.

Years ago, more moms were at home, too. Not the case today.

The majority of Catholic schools share a campus with, or are otherwise very near, the parish church -- and students can go to Mass on holy days as a part of the school day. Most in my area go in groups to the mid-morning and/or noon Masses.

If it's left up to the kids whether to go or not, of course, they probably won't -- day off, or no day off. But if it's expected of them by the school AND their parents, they will.

I think if that was really the reason a Catholic School was giving the days off, the Catholic School should ask the local Bishop to provide a priest to do mass at the school on that day.

If the Catholic school is letting them out on a Holy Day, then there is no way to keep track of who is going to Mass and who is not, so there's no reason they should make a decision based on the assumption that "kids don't use them (the days off) for mass." How do they know that??

They should either continue to let them off to honor the Holy Day, or have Mass at the school for all to attend.

In canada , all students in the catholic school system, starting at grade 1, attend mass on the holy days, and then are in classes for the rest of the day.

The teachers take enough of their own days off - as PA days.

Some people including school children tend to avoid their duties and while away their time. This a national waste. So it is in the right direction that catholic schools remain open on certain holydays.
By the way have you thought whether any animals take a holyday at any time in their life?

When I went to a catholic school, we stayed in school but attended Mass with all the students of the school on days like that. That way we only missed an hour of lessons and they still could impart the "spiritual" teachings for that day.

Excuse me, but a Holy day is one that is written in the Holy Scriptures, Passover, Pentecost, Tabernacles etc.

A holiday is what you are referring too and these aren't recognized by the Creator Yahweh, so why should you care about them?

Show me where we are commanded to keep or celebrated all saints day. You can't.

Mat 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with [their] lips; but their heart is far from me.

Mat 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching [for] doctrines the commandments of men.

Gen 4:5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

Jhn 4:22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews Yahdaim!

Many, many Catholic little ones attend public colleges or different inner most faculties, and in maximum parishes there are PSR or CCD preparation (commonly hung on Saturday mornings) fairly for those little ones in case you want to receive their sacraments. They are holy days of obligation and ought to be used properly so I think the schools are wise to see that they are not so should make the children attend school and attend church with the school. This is just a sign of decline in full adherence to religion.
